What you will do

The Compliance Manager, Monitoring and Assessments LATAM will be responsible for supporting the effective implementation of the Global Compliance and Privacy (GCP) Program through membership in the Compliance Monitoring and Assessments (CMA) Team. This position provides intelligence and informs decision making by working collaboratively with leadership and Compliance Officers across Stryker's global businesses. The Compliance Manager, Monitoring and Assessments LatAm, will provide support to the Latin American businesses and the ICM team through engagement with LATAM Group Compliance Leader, ICM LatAm Leader, and country Compliance functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Demonstrates understanding of key auditing/assessment and monitoring concepts, techniques, and relevant risk areas (e.g., fraud, ABAC, conflict of interest)

  • Demonstrates ability to manage and support change in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates developing managerial / influencing skills.
  • Demonstrates well-developed ability to anticipate impact, solve problems of moderate to high complexity, and proactively take initiative beyond direct responsibilities.

  • May have responsibility for one or more direct or indirect reports and is able to effectively provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
  • Well-developed ability to show discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires a developing understanding of and leadership interactions with some functions (Regulatory Affairs, Finance, HR, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, R&D, Sales and Marketing, IT, Internal Audit), commercial divisions, and geographies.
  • Demonstrates professional demeanor and is perceived as competent with developing conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and presentation skills, including formal and technical writing skills.
  • Seeks to consistently meet internal customer needs without compromising Stryker Corporate Policies, procedures, industry guidance and country, state/provincial or local laws.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Compliance Monitoring and Assessment program: Helps plan and implement global and regional risk-based annual Compliance Monitoring and Assessments Plan:
    • Follows generally acceptable auditing standards (e.g., Institute of Internal Auditors) in developing and executing all elements of the monitoring and assessments program:

a) scoping - supports regional compliance risk assessment process.

b) planning - assists with developing the annual monitoring and assessments plan.

c) fieldwork - executes the monitoring and assessment plan using a range of sampling, analysis, interview, and testing techniques.

d) analysis - evaluates assessment observations and determine conclusions based on accurate and factual evidence and observations.

e) professional judgement - applies professional judgement, knowledge, and experience to evaluate conclusions.

f) reporting - prepares and communicates clear and concise reporting of findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.

  • Maintains awareness of regional- and industry-specific compliance-related regulations, trends, and latest approaches in monitoring and assessment techniques and areas of interest.
  • Is a resource to support the regional implementation and ongoing development of compliance programs and initiatives.
  • Forensic Investigations: Be a resource for regional Compliance and Legal Investigations teams by providing forensics support on select investigations including:
    • Reviewing and analyzing data to support inquiries into potential misconduct or violations.
    • Supporting interviews of witnesses and investigation targets.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the regional Compliance team and other support functions (e.g., Indirect Channel Management, Finance, Internal Audit) to ensure the monitoring and assessment program activities are appropriately aligned to changing business environment and Stryker's and the Department's strategic priorities.
  • Perform related work as assigned by the Senior Manager and other members of the Global Legal & Compliance leadership teams.

What you need

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Bachelor's degree.

• Previous Regional (LatAm) experience.

• Previous Financial and Investigation background.

• Position based in São Paulo, Brazil or San Jose, Costa Rica to work in the hybrid model (flexible from home and Stryker's office).

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):

• MBA preferred.

• Excellent presentation and interpersonal communications skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering on established timelines.

• Ability to be persuasive in the absence of organizational authority.

• Must be able to understand and work within complex interdivisional procedures and policies.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
