Electronics Technician
Location: Belfast
Hybrid: 4 Days Per Week On-Site. 37.5 Hour Week.
Contract: Permanent.
Responsible for the R&D laboratory and coordination of the safe and efficient maintenance, calibration, and overall life cycle of R&D equipment. Will ensure compliance with internal and external documentation requirements, procedures, and regulatory standards. Will assist the R&D team with procurement, assembly, test, diagnostics, and other ad hoc duties associated with development of electronic products and systems.
Position Responsibilities:
- Support R&D laboratory activities through organization of the workspace, monitoring and procurement of consumables, and coordination of equipment.
- Coordinate the equipment life cycle including implementation of safe and efficient maintenance, calibration, tracking, distribution, procurement, and storage of R&D equipment.
- Maintain the equipment database.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external documentation requirements, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Engage with representatives from engineering teams outside R&D to maintain an awareness of equipment calibration and control across the site, and any changes to requirements.
- Maintain and input to the development of process documentation associated with equipment control.
- Adhere to and maintain records for environmental and safety procedures associated with lab processes.
- Troubleshoot equipment including performing repairs and ordering parts or replacements.
- Provide reports, analysis, and guidance in support of failure investigations, non-conforming equipment impact assessments, and new equipment needs.
- Conduct prototyping and bench testing.
- Assemble and test components, assemblies, systems and/or product to aid the overall R&D effort.
- Generate and execute test protocols and provide reports.
- Perform component level diagnostics and propose resolutions.
- Liaise with suppliers of equipment and/or design related components.
- Assist with project planning activities.
Business Responsibilities:
- Understand the intended use of product manufactured at Stryker Belfast.
Med Device Compliance:
- With supervision, create or refine engineering documentation, such as work instructions, schematics, BOMs, design descriptions, etc. per company design control procedures.
General Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success and contribute to the project as a team member
- Comply with training requirements, learning procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.
- Support continuous improvement activities, document, and implement solutions per procedures.
- Demonstrate ownership and integrity of work.
- Build stable relationships.
- Maintain awareness of Company Health and Safety Policy and Fire Evacuation Procedure and take all reasonable precautions against personal harm and/or injury
What you will need:
- Level 5 Qualification (Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) / Foundation Degree & Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
- 3+ years of work experience in a similar post.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: What you will need:
- Office / laboratory environment, significant computer usage, extended hours as needed (37.5 nominal), occasional travel.
Essential Technical Skills / Experience:
- Proficient use of electronics lab equipment i.e., oscilloscope, digital multimeter, etc.
- Basic ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
- Experience of working within an electronics environment
- Experience of hand soldering
- Proficient computer skills with office software applications.
Preferred Skills / Experience:
- Experience of equipment calibration
- Experience of working with high voltage circuitry
