The Director, NV SGTC will lead a team of R&D engineers and CE team members to deliver best in-class products and service.

What you will do:
- Business Planning:
- Key member of SGTC leadership team. Formulate and implement strategic plans to help drive the overarching strategic plan and future direction of the organization.
- Understand the main objective of R&D/Customer Excellence site: labor wage rate/ market entry / leverage regional technical expertise / support regional marketing or manufacturing needs.
- Develop business plans that leverages SGTC capabilities / location for R&D, Customer Excellence or Marketing-Sales support - understand the value / payback. Solidify vision for Year 5.
- Setup Key Product Development & Testing Capabilities: focus on most used tests for long-term strategy of capabilities for NPD and SE.
- Manage complex and multi-functional projects along with team leaders.
- Develop metrics to measure success of the SGTC team.
- Prepare and deliver annual budgets (headcount, expense and capital) for final review and approval. Approval authority for personnel requisitions and capital expenditure requests.
- Builds justification and ROI to support programs, projects and value responsible team brings.
- Holds team accountable to business goals.
- Technical Leadership:
- Ensure consistency between SGTC site and other NV sites in terms of Product Development, Sustenance, Test Development and Validation efforts.
- Develop plan to leverage regional technical expertise.
- Provide significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
- Provide leadership and work together with the SGTC based team to plan and execute projects.
- Provide direction to the team in complex or difficult situations, remove obstacles, assign appropriate resources and interface with other functions to assist with issue resolution.
- Work cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Drives and evaluates project and department progress, technical development plans, and results.
- Participate in functional reviews at SGTC and Fremont.
- People Management:
- Hire, engage and develop SGTC R&D and CE team in collaboration with NV R&D and CE functional leaders and/or representatives.
- Lead a team of highly engaged technical professionals.
- Ensure cross-training program with global R&D sites and has appropriate product and technical specifications, directions, and resources to perform effectively.
- Work with NV CE and R&D functional leaders and/or representatives in defining annual/quarterly objectives for SGTC team members and monitor progress.
- Ensure a culture of collaboration exists between the NV and SGTC to ensure that key skill sets can be leveraged when required to ensure all projects are managed effectively and delivered in line with divisional expectations.
- Ensure close collaboration and cross-training with SGTC NV R&D team.
- Establish mentorship between global R&D/CE leaders and engineers and SGTC team members.

- Determine project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and R&D deliverables.
- Determine appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources.
- Drives the development of department tools and methodologies.
- Establish cross-functional team relationships.
- Provide an overview of the function and role of his/her group, technical skill sets, to other groups within NV division.
- Arranging resources to meet new product and production customer service needs.
Education/Special Training Required:
Bachelors degree in engineering or applicable technical field (mechanical or biomedical preferred) (M.S. or/and Ph.D. in Engineering or related field preferred)
Qualifications/Work Experience Required:
- Design & development experience. (Medical device experience will be preferred)
- 7+ years of people management experience preferred.
- Product development life cycle experience
