Employee transport is an increasingly prevalent term in business. It's about getting the employees to and from office/home, in the most efficient, timely and cost-effective manner. Transport managers play a key role in fulfilling the company's goal in providing comfortable transport facility for the employees with minimal impact to the logins and employee sentiments. They are responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the organisation. This includes managing budgets, organising schedules & routes, optimisation of vehicles, route minimising, ensuring that vehicles health and are safe and meet legal requirements, regulatory protocols are monitored for drivers and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties and behaviour. All these aspects ultimately impact the organisation.

While the role covers a range of functions within the transport department of the company, each with its own challenges and skills, they are all interdependent and team members must work together and understand the impact of various aspects on the overall transport portfolio on the way it is managed and perceived. Delivering seamless transport to employees is the goal.
Employee Transport links all the milestones involved, right from RFP's to managing seamless transport facility to the employees. The management of this supply chain is now recognised as one of the most important factors in employee experience in today's fast growing competitive structure.
Reporting.
Position will report into the Head of Transport
Work activities.
Logistics:
• Overseeing Planning routes and schedules across all shifts 24X6.
• Ensuring cab movements are seamless.
• Ensure minimal user complaints.
• Coordinate with transport vendors as and when required.
Transport management:
• Directing all transportation activities.
• Monitoring transport costs.
• Negotiating and bargaining transportation prices during RFP's.
• Dealing with the effects of delays and minimising these.
• Anticipate climate, geo-political etc issues by implementing transport strategies to ensure minimal impact.
• Monitoring transport vehicles to ensure it is in alignment to the company's carbon footprint goals.
Work conditions.
• Travel: occasionally required, though not a regular feature
• Working hours: flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business.
• Location: Chennai, Mumbai
Skills and qualities
- Ability to use transport software e.g. MoveinSync and electronic communication methods.
- Understanding of employee sentiments
- Tact, diplomacy, and calmness, especially when dealing with critical situations, tired drivers, and disgruntled employees.
- An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
- Excellent location/geographical knowledge.
- Good people management and coordination skills.
- Excellent financial acumen.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the employee transportation industry.
Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.
