Who we are looking for

We are seeking a Product Development Officer to design, build and implement solutions for clients internally and externally. The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders to create detailed integration requirements, (message transfer protocols & definitions) as well as define functional requirements (constructing client solutions, workflow charts and diagrams) and work through the development process to the implementation of these solutions

Integrations involve creating and deploying solutions for clients utilizing messaging standards (incl. FIX, SWIFT and custom XML formats) over MQ, API's, SFTP, TCP/IP and other protocols. Typically solutions include a combination of messaging, batch processing and data transformation, and is commonly written in Python.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

The specific product Fund Connect is State Street's market-leading global electronic trading platform for Money Market Funds, Primary Market ETFs, Liquidity Instruments and Investment Funds. Fund Connect provides efficiencies to the entire pre- and post-trade lifecycle across multiple asset classes. This role resides within the Fund Connect Business Integration Team, who support Sales and Relationship teams in a development/solutioning capacity.

What you will be responsible for

As Technical Product Development Officer, you will

  • Design, configure, build and deploy the integration of trading and supporting interfaces between
  • Fund Connect and its clients
  • Be responsible for the successful completion of integration initiatives
  • Handle technical consultancy in post-sales implementations
  • Contribute to longer-term strategic and transformational technology initiatives
  • Project manage which includes troubleshooting and escalation both internally and with clients
  • Document work, manage expectations and communicate progress on ongoing engagements
  • Continue to maintain and improve the codebase used in the integration layer
  • Use technology to support tactical needs of the operations team, including the automation of tasks through scripting
  • Work autonomously with confidence in a fast-moving, complex technical environment
  • Build solid relationships with colleagues across multiple functional groups of differing levels

  • Design and develop visualisations and reports using BI tools to support management and/or meet regulatory requirements

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • 2+ years of experience in software development in a financial services environment or similar
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Experience with FX, Equities, Rates and/or Mutual Funds products
  • Knowledge of common messaging protocols and payloads (SWIFT/FIX/REST/MQ/Kafka)
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • A desire to solve complex business problems with creative technical solutions
  • Basic Unix & Linux skills
  • Sense of urgency, natural curiosity to learn and ability to constructively question the status quo
  • Highly self-motivated with exceptional integrity

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on developer experience of object-oriented design pattern knowledge and implementation experience using Python or Java (Required).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics or Finance-related field (Required)
  • Knowledge of workflow management frameworks such as Apache Airflow (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure, such as AWS (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of BI visualisation tools such as Looker or Power BI (Preferred)

Salary Range:
$70,000 - $107,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
