We have an opportunity for an experienced Tax Manager to join the UK Regulated Tax team, working in our London office. That Manager will manage the delivery of tax services to the bank's clients, with responsibility for members of the Regulated Tax Team and the work undertaken by them

What you will be responsible for

As Taxation Manager you will

  • Manage service delivery, taking final responsibility for the quality of service for all assigned clients, which includes a full UK Tax Compliance service for all UK Regulated Tax Funds
  • Provide leadership on tax technical and regulatory changes relating to UK Regulated Funds ensuring strong understanding of complex tax matters relating to Property Funds and VAT
  • Work within the Tax group to ensure appropriate processes/procedures to facilitate the delivery of all Tax services to all clients in time and within the appropriate quality standards
  • Participate in client Service Reviews and ad-hoc client meetings. Liaise with clients on current and future services and issues and provide support to clients on projects and investigations. Develop and maintain good relationships with senior staff in each allocated client organisation
  • Identify issues and problems in the service delivery and take timely remedial action.
  • Ensure the line manager and others, as appropriate, are kept aware of all issues/problems/queries/work in progress that may impact upon the quality of service being given
  • Ensure that the business unit operates in compliance with internal and external regulations and that escalation procedures are followed
  • Manage and plan resources ensuring delivery of outcomes are consistent, timely and accurate
  • Plan and manage all relevant project work and assist in development of new products
  • Monitor and evaluate the continuing effectiveness of processes, systems and procedures initiating remedial action as necessary
  • Work with senior management on identifying and reducing tax risks associated with servicing investment funds
  • Provide regular formal and informal briefings on company, department and team issues
  • Set and maintain standards of personal and professional performance / behaviour, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Promote and implement training and development activities plus oversee the appraisal process for individuals and the teams
  • Take responsibility for personal development and training. Keep up to date with tax legislative and regulatory tax changes affecting the business

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Strong experience working in UK Regulated Fund tax delivery operations
  • Excellent knowledge of tax regulations relating to UK Regulated funds
  • Demonstrate good understanding of accounting regulations and SORP for Collective Investment funds
  • Excellent people-management, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in working in an environment with a strong focus on risk excellence
  • Ability to develop relationships at all management levels both internally and with our clients and their tax related providers
  • Excellent analytical abilities and focus on accuracy, problem solving skills, ability to multi-task and ability to work under pressure and to multiple deadlines.
  • Take ownership of outcomes and be personally accountable for the end result.
  • Ability to work proactively both on own initiative and as part of a team

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • Industry and tax related qualifications would be distinct advantage (ICAS, ICAEW, CTA, ACCA, ATT, AAT)
  • Advanced Excel knowledge plus other general PC literacy including MS Office PowerPoint and Outlook
