The Stewardship Research team is a global team responsible for undertaking research including conducting engagement campaigns with issuers on both corporate governance and sustainability topics, developing thought leadership, and contributing to the development of analytical frameworks to support our proxy voting activities. As a senior team member, you will support the Head of Stewardship Research to achieve the objectives of the team.

This position is located in London and will report to the Head of Stewardship Research.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Support the strategic development and implementation of State Street Global Advisors' global stewardship activities
  • Design and conduct engagement campaigns with corporate issuers on governance and sustainability related topics and support stewardship functional teams with engagement on these topics
  • Monitor evolving disclosure and market trends and lead the development of thought leadership, insights, and reporting on mature and emerging topics
  • Support the development of analytical frameworks and assessment criteria related to sustainability topics
  • Review company disclosure and support analysis of sustainability-related proposals
  • Participate in client engagements related to sustainability stewardship activities
  • work closely with the Head of Stewardship Research and other stewardship functional teams to ensure the success of our overall stewardship program

Experience and Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in corporate engagement, proxy voting, or a related field
  • Expertise in one or more social topics (e.g. human capital management, DEI, human rights etc.)
  • Experience leading engagement with corporate or investor stakeholders preferred
  • Master's degree in a sustainability-related field preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to present information in an organized, clear and engaging way
  • Strong interpersonal skills with comfort working independently and within a team setting
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, demonstrating initiative and the ability to prioritize workloads
  • Ability to navigate an increasingly complex environment and maintain focus on our core fiduciary responsibility
