Who we are looking for

The UK-based SSTL Client Manager (Edinburgh or London based) will work to ensure:

  • SSTL meets its regulatory obligations in oversight of clients
  • Excellent levels of client satisfaction to State Street's UK depositary clients.

Working in partnership with SSTL's service delivery teams and the rest of the client management team, the client manager will work to ensure excellent standards of service delivery while maintaining cognizance of the depositary's fiduciary duty. Confidence to engage and communicate with clients and colleagues at all levels coupled with excellent written and oral skills are a must. The ability to advocate and challenge, while maintaining excellent relationships is also of primary importance. Team members are expected to maintain high standards

As one of the largest providers of Trustee and Depositary services in the UK, State Street Trustees Limited (SSTL) is a subsidiary of State Street Corporation acting as Depositary for approximately 458 UCITS and AIFMD funds across 40 clients with total asset values of GBP 362bn. With nine Depositaries across Europe, Depositary is an integral product for State Street in EMEA.

The SSTL Client Manager will sit within the Client Management Team. Reporting to the Head of Client Management, Regulatory and Technical, the Client Manager will play an integral role in

  • Helping to ensure SSTL meets its regulatory obligations in oversight of clients
  • Maximise client satisfaction levels through the active management of SSTL client relationships.
  • Retain all SSTL clients; ensure all clients are 100% referenceable for new SSTL business.
  • Maintain and build excellent knowledge of and relationships with existing client base.
  • Achieve excellent client satisfaction ratings via Service Review Meetings and through internal CRM relationships.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new business and client change events.
  • Contribute effectively to the sales and marketing activities of the SSTL business.
  • Deputise for Head of Client Management when required.

What you will be responsible for

As SSTL Client Manager you will:

  • Provide an excellent standard of service to SSTL's clients including timely responses to queries, prompt delivery of meeting materials etc., while maintaining cognisance of the Depositary's fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the client organization and strong relationships with client counterparts.
  • Take responsibility for client account planning and relationship governance including regular service review meetings.
  • Advocate for clients within SSTL and State Street, as required.
  • Undertake client calling plans and provide client reporting (MI packs/Executive Summaries).
  • Establish a strong working relationship with SSTL service delivery teams.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients' State Street Relationship Managers and service teams in relation to other relevant State Street products, as relevant.
  • Oversight of client profitability.
  • Contribute to client conferences, entertainment, development of new SSTL products and regulatory change matters, as needed.
  • Contribute to new business opportunities - RFPs & rate modelling.
  • Contribute to and coordinate client fund launches and other fund change activity. Manage the governance around any such new funds and changes through the New Business and Product Approval Forum.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant market and regulatory developments impacting SSTL and its clients.
  • Escalate relevant client matters within SSTL and/or State Street as appropriate.
  • Support the team in maintaining excellent standards of governance, including a strong control environment. Demonstrate "risk excellence" and an ethical mindset.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years+ financial services knowledge/experience.
  • Ideally, previous experience of client relationship management within the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of UK collective investments schemes, the role of the depositary and fund administration/operations is preferable.

Additional requirements

Hybrid working - 2 days in office minimum.
