The Investment Portfolio Team, a unit of Global Treasury, plays a critical role in managing the bank's ~$100 billion investment portfolio to generate income and meet State Street Bank's liquidity and collateral needs, pursuant to the firm's overall balance sheet strategy.
The global investment portfolio team is comprised of portfolio managers, traders and credit personnel across the U.S., Europe, India, and Australia.
The candidate will be part of the portfolio management team, working as a Senior Credit Portfolio Manager (covering financials/IG) & as Chief Strategy Officer
This is a visible role, and the individual is expected to collaborate effectively within the team and across organizational functions including Finance, Treasury & Risk.

As a Senior Credit Portfolio Manager/Chief Strategy Officer, you would be reporting to the Head of Investment Credit but also assisting the broader Office of the CIO's Portfolio Management Group which is organized by 3 broad asset sectors:
- Global Rates
- AMBS/ACMBS
- Global Credit
What you will be responsible for:
Senior Credit PM:
Responsibilities include developing market views, monitoring credit and spread performance and defining relative value within both the financials sector and broader credit universe. Maintaining a close collaborative relationship with the analyst team to develop thought leadership and investment insight. Manage the Financials portfolio in line with the overall banks investment strategy.
Chief Strategy Officer:
Responsibilities include working with the CIO and Senior PMs to develop the overall strategy for the Investment Portfolio. This includes looking at risks on both the Asset & Liabilities side of the balance sheet (working in close collaboration with ALM team and GTRM), and then optimizing the Investment Portfolio across various sectors globally - Rates/SSA, Credit and MBS.
Main responsibilities include:
- Develop a relative value outlook for the Global Financials/IG sector and derive market insight and a forward-looking view within responsible sectors to guide the investment process
- Working with credit analysts to identify macroeconomic trends that could potentially impact portfolio performance
- Generate timely investment recommendations both buy and sell
- Responsible for developing a performance attribution assessment against a neutral benchmark
- Responsible for monitoring recommending strategic changes/trades in line with markets movements
- Team player who must show the willingness to work with global teams across multiple time zones
- Outlining appropriate Sector allocation and AFS:HTM ratios, in line with commitments made to ALCO, MRAC and RC
- Presentations to regulators, CFO/Treasurer, ALCO will also be required
- Be the central point person within the CIO for all internal stakeholders when relating to balance sheet and asset allocation decisions
- Act as CIO representative on various Committees within State Street
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- BSc from a quantitative discipline, economics, or finance degree
- 10 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, including experiences in portfolio management
- CFA designation is preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation building skills in PowerPoint
- Excellent analytical skills with an innovative and solution orientation approach to problems, with experience in leveraging advanced Excel workbooks, Python, and Tableau
- Previous relevant fixed-income experience at a bank or asset manager
- Knowledge and experience of portfolio optimization considering the entire balance sheet's duration, interest rate and spread sensitivity would be a positive
- Prior experience in developing Portfolio optimization/analytics is desirable
