Who we are looking for

The candidate will have the opportunity to join global research team with the immediate opportunity to contribute to research analysis, production, and client engagement Although the team is multi-asset, the focus of this role will be on global equity strategy and equities' role in the multi-asset portfolio.

The successful applicant will have 10-12+ years working on either a buyside or sell side research role, and a strong foundation and understanding of multi-asset investing, macroeconomics, portfolio construction and the drivers of market risk and return. The candidate should have the desire and capacity to compile and distill inputs from vast information sets and complex relationships into a clear and focused investment thesis combining fundamental, quantitative, and proprietary indicators into their analysis.

Successful candidate will have an opportunity to work / collaborate with award winning academics and industry practitioners as well as present their work at industry conferences.

Candidate will attend and present strategy content meetings with both internal stakeholders and external clients, including the world's leading institutional investors, hedge funds and sovereign institutions.

What you will be responsible for

As a Multi-Asset Strategist, Vice President you will

  • Help APAC and Global Sales, Trading and Research achieve financial targets.
  • Be accountable and expected to contribute to the State Street culture of risk excellence. Expect the highest ethical and conduct standards in undertaking our day-to-day activities and our business and client interactions.
  • Improve employee engagement and develop our talent across SSGM APAC. Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to rotating interns and current graduate analysts.
  • Deliver well received content at research retreats, roadshows, roundtables, one-on-one meetings and external conferences as required, while leading key client engagement for our research offering with emphasis on cross-asset analysis.
  • Participate on the active rotation of individual and group research report writing, including equity weekly, monthly, and asset allocation documents.
  • Help promote the State Street Global Markets brand externally with a steady slate of media interviews throughout the year and assist to build the corporate brand
  • Ensure that the Macro Strategy Team continues to engage and collaborate with SSA on existing products and indicator development and application.
  • Work towards a more intensive collaboration between the Strategy and Portfolio Solutions teams.

What we value

  • A broad understanding of economic and political factors that impact on equity markets and financial markets more broadly
  • The ability to develop market indicators and to interpret internally to sales and trading teams and externally to clients
  • Extensive spreadsheet and database management skills and to contribute to chart-packs and quantitative analysis
  • Be able to sustain and expand client engagement by delivering well defended client meetings

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Economics, Finance or a Quantitative subject with postgraduate or professional qualifications an advantage
  • At least 3-5 years of market experience, preferably with a financial institution
  • Regional language skills - Chinese, Korean or Japanese - an advantage but not essential
