Reporting to the Chief Credit Officer in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and to the UK Chief Risk Officer, as a member of the UK Risk Leadership, primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for ensuring effective identification, measurement, control and management of the relevant credit risks of State Street's UK, EMEA and Asia-Pacific businesses, across Global Markets, Global Exchange, Global Treasury, Group Services and Credit Services (Committed ending), through coordination with key counterparts within ERM globally & regionally. Similarly, provide strategic input to business line development & initiatives through identification of key risk issues and trends.
  • In close co-ordination with ERM globally, ensure the development, implementation, review and revision of appropriate credit risk management strategies, metrics, policies, procedures and systems within UK, EMEA & APAC across all business lines, to ensure a complete and globally harmonized risk management framework.
  • Develop and implement the credit risk sections of the UK, EMEA and APAC risk appetite statements, ensuring alignment between the global risk appetite and local risk appetites (when applicable) for credit risk.
  • Work closely with management to establish an appropriate risk management culture throughout the business and promote a culture of effective change.
  • Responsible for exercising personal delegated authority in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk appetite framework, and managing the decision making process for those counterparts under the responsibility of the International Credit team and within the authority of the Credit Committees - ensuring high quality and appropriate analysis.
  • Ensure direct reports and all team members are conversant with, and complying to, all relevant prevailing policies and procedures for managing credit risk, including the delegation of credit approval authority. Ensure all staff maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity and ensure compliance with accepted industry practice, company policies, statute and regulatory requirements (including the UK Financial Conduct Authority's CASS source book).
  • Manage the International Credit teams covering Financial Institutions, Real Money Funds, Corporates, and the Alternative Investment Funds sectors, and the geographic/legal entity teams covering APAC & Europe, ensuring appropriate ownership of the counterparty risks by the team, as demonstrated through the management of the holistic credit risk due diligence, analysis, approval, monitoring and review process.
  • Proactively monitor developments which affect the credit risk profile of the portfolio , using a variety of internal management tools and key risk indicators, escalating key issues to the Chief Credit Officer, UK CRO, and CRO as required
  • Actively participate in State Street's governance processes, representing ERM on numerous working groups and committees.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with other risk functions and internal control functions.
  • Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity and ensure compliance with accepted industry practice, company policies, statute and regulatory requirements (including the UK Financial Conduct Authority's CASS source book) .

Managerial

  • Manage the International Credit team of credit managers & analysts, located in the UK and throughout Asia Pacific, supporting all Global Markets, Global Exchange, Global Treasury and Credit Services credit-related activities in EMEA and APAC
  • Responsible for hiring, direction and training of risk management staff across UK, EMEA, & APAC where appropriate.
  • Supervise direct reports effectively, including effective recordkeeping and documentation. Ensure direct reports and their teams (where applicable) are competent and have clearly defined responsibilities.
