The Head Data Commercialization is responsible for leading and executing an enterprise-wide ("One State Street") Data Commercialization strategy, expanding on what we already have within our Global Markets business, through State Street Associates, Our aspiration is to build a new commercial pillar with an ambition to grow to approximately $250M to $300M direct revenue business. This would be inclusive of vision, discovery, delivery, go-to-market (GTM) and directly managing and developing the Data Products team. You and your team will be responsible for devising the One State Street strategy to build a commercial strategy to take State Street data to create new value for State Street. This includes conducting research, ideating for new products, building requirements, and roadmaps, working with the Commercial organization to successfully launch new data products, measuring their in-field performance against KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and implementing improvement strategies and tactics. At the same time, you will be responsible for ensuring we procure and maintain appropriate data rights to ensure that we can be successful in our commercialization plans.

Responsibilities & Tasks Include:

  • Primary responsibility for building the strategy to build a new commercial pillar that commercializes STT's unique data assets, supplemented with the appropriate third-party data to provide a unique set of data products to our clients and meet unmet client demand for data and insights.
  • Responsible for understanding attributes and capabilities of State Street Associates and elevate those capabilities, build on them, taking a One State Street approach on behalf of the enterprise.
  • Responsible for partnering with key business experts across IS, GA, GM, Alternatives and others to align unmet client needs with proprietary datasets from which we can develop solutions, including ideation across the enterprise with voice of client when exploring new data solutions.
  • Responsible for building and testing product prototypes.
  • Building a team with skillsets that would include analytics, data science, quantitative finance, user interface design and AI,.
  • Explore, manage and expand 3rd party partnerships.
  • Responsible for maintaining and delivering data products, integrating and managing market/vendor data, and monitoring for anomalies, in close coordination with Global Technology.
  • Responsible for securing, maintaining and documenting contractual rights from clients to commercialize their data (in partnership with Legal) and executing on a "give to get" strategy as needed to maximize the pool of opt-in data.
  • Responsible for interacting with clients and prospects in close coordination with State Street's coverage and product teams to win and service business.
  • Partner to provide relevant and critical thought leadership to Global Marketing

Job Requirements:

  • 20+ years relevant Data Commercial Product leadership, research experience, preferably in financial industry
  • Strong track record of connecting the dots to inform a larger strategy while maintaining an execution oriented mindset, with a focus on commercial outcomes
  • Strong skills needed to influence and gain stakeholder buy-in
  • Strong content development and product and research background
  • Experience working in a large, complex organization with multiple legal entity structures and business lines
  • Ability to manage projects across multiple stakeholders, timelines, and key deliverables
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills

Salary Range:
$300,000 - $412,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
