Who we are looking for

An experienced leader for our global FX Operations team, encompassing all relocated functions to the highest standards. Extensive knowledge required in FX, confirmations and settlements, clearing, collateral and initial margin.

Why this role is important to us

The team you will be joining is a part of State Street Global Markets India COO (SSGM) which will be going through a complete transformation, FX Operations is part of a global operations team that provides coverage for all regions EMEA, APAC and North America during their specific time zone.

Position Responsibilities

  • Address day-to-day operational issues and escalations
  • Liaise with project teams and IT in regards to any FX projects/initiatives impacting operations for operational readiness and preparation
  • Provide oversight and assistance to Operations teams
  • Communicate with multiple departments onshore and JV (Trading, Middle Office, Static Data, Payments, Investigations, IT) to resolve any issues that arise and discrepancies on a time sensitive basis.
  • Clearly communicate and elevate issues that impact business, or have an impact both monetary, reputational or risk related to management with immediate activation of review and tracking.
  • Maintain MIS for monthly reporting to senior management
  • Review, maintain and/or implement controls when applicable to reduce risk
  • Responsible for SLA adherence to your onshore service receiver.
  • Develop and produce regularly management information including weekly executive status reports, monthly committee reports, action logs, as required to support business unit decision making
  • Attend regular meetings to support the business functions
  • Support the 'Risk Excellence' culture within the business
  • Ensure that your team has clear understanding of their scope of responsibilities (including those delegated to them and those they delegate), objectives, training and competency requirements.
  • Develop effective working relationships and communications with staff and ensure that staff are motivated, developed and supported.
  • Establish and monitor systems of control, delegated authority and escalation procedures so that the business complies with internal policies and external regulations and can be managed effectively
  • Establish and monitor an effective oversight framework to ensure that issues are appropriately identified, escalated and resolved. This includes: a) ensuring that appropriate management information is received, considered and challenged as appropriate at intervals proportionate to the risks; and b) that staff members have clear understanding of the escalation path/principles
  • Establish and nurture a culture of 'Risk Excellence' within the team, encourage an environment of openness that welcomes effective challenge and supports open discussion.
  • Establish and nurture a culture of individual ownership of tasks to embed a clear individual sense of accountability into staff members' behaviour in performing their roles.
  • Ensure that the highest level of the Code of Conduct is displayed in your own and staff behavior.

Education / Experience

  • BS/BA or equivalent
  • 15 + yrs experience in management and operations in the FX industry
  • knowledge of Global Markets, custody, cash management and payment systems,
  • Strong management and employee relations skills
