Who we are looking for

Providing legal support to the State Street Global Treasury department and the Secured Financing business line within the Global Markets division of the organization is a challenging and highly visible role within the legal department. The role is located at One Congress Street in Boston, MA and qualifications include:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school;
  • License to practice law in Massachusetts;
  • 5-7 years of experience at a major law firm;
  • Experience with industry standard agreements such as ISDA, GMRA and MRA helpful but not required
  • Knowledge of secured transactions, corporate finance transactions, securities laws and/or securities offerings are a plus;
  • Strong and sophisticated drafting and negotiating skills;
  • Team player who is strong collaborator with other team members and support partners;
  • 4 days in office, 1 day remote plus option to work remotely up to 4 weeks per calendar year

Why this role is important to us

The Global Treasury department provides a critical function for the organization globally and the Secured Financing business is a key and growing area within State Street Global Markets division. The person filling this role will be responsible for all aspects of supporting these functions and businesses, including their initiatives and client onboardings.

What you will be responsible for

Providing legal support for various aspects of State Street Global Treasury and Secured Financing, including deposit-taking activities, liquidity and funding transactions and support arrangements, securities offerings, share repurchase programs, inter-company transactions, the FICC Sponsored Member Repurchase Program, the Peer to Peer Repurchase Program, Triparty Custodial Agreements and Clearing Agreements. The candidate will be responsible for duties including the following:

  • Drafting and negotiating legal contracts and documentation with clients and counterparties;
  • Drafting board/committee votes and documentation for internal governance purposes;
  • Collaborating with U.S. and global legal colleagues to effectively and efficiently onboard new clients;
  • Advising on global applicable laws and regulations;
  • Providing legal analysis in connection with changes to existing product offerings and new product offerings;
  • Providing legal advice in connection with strategic initiatives and special projects;
  • Assisting with regulatory inquiries;
  • Providing legal support to senior global business colleagues;
  • Managing consultation process with external legal counsel;

Salary Range:
$120,000 - $202,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
