The Head of Resiliency Continuity role is the senior leader responsible for the development and oversight of the global resiliency continuity program. Additionally, the role is accountable for the business continuity policy and program, the oversight of continuity control compliance and risk and major incident management across the globe.

The Senior Vice President (SVP) will ensure that the organization's infrastructure, technology, and operational processes are resilient, adaptable, and aligned with global best practices and regulatory requirements.

The SVP reports into the Chief Resiliency Officer and is responsible for the management and support of the Crisis Management Head, Regional Resiliency Heads, Business Continuity directors (dotted line), and Technical Resiliency Lead (dotted line). The role interfaces closely with, and provides influence to, senior and executive leadership at corporate, regional and business unit levels across all legal entities. The role also requires effective and respected relationships with senior leadership, regulators, clients and industry peers.

What you will be responsible for

As a Global Head of Resiliency Continuity, you will be:

  • Responsible for oversight of State Street's overall Business Continuity program and monitor the Business in their adoption of the program and report/escalate compliance to the program, and associated continuity risks to Executive Management, the Executive Continuity Steering Committee, TORC and the Board of Directors.
  • Establish and maintain an effective and global regulator approved continuity program that develops effective business line plans and tests to ensure we can recover from the critical and unplanned events.
  • Provide a comprehensive crisis management program to respond to critical events on a local, regional and global level. Provide regional support with a follow-the-sun model. The program requires strong collaboration and established relationships at all levels within the organization to be effective. It also requires routine testing via simulation or table top exercises. Also, provide education, training and relevant tools.
  • Provide strategic direction to continuously evolve the corporate continuity and resilience programs in line with regulation, industry best practice, internal business strategy and client needs.
  • Work in tandem with global programs to ensure consistency and identify any regional differences, if required, in line with corporate goals and global budget.
  • Ensure that business units operate in compliance with internal program controls and external regulations and that escalation procedures are defined and followed where non-compliance or risk is identified.
  • Participate and present at regional and global governance committees. Instigate and develop management information to allow effective management decisions in respect to resiliency and continuity.
  • Represent the organization on industry bodies and at regulatory driven meetings to drive program updates to Business Continuity program, operations and technology resiliency models.
  • Establish and oversee the regional Incident Management Program, covering both State Street and market wide scenarios
  • Work in tandem with technology, cyber and business resiliency workstreams including internal outsourcing and vendor management to support understanding of resiliency capabilities, to identify vulnerabilities and influence the business to address or accept associated risk
  • Chair the governance body overseeing enterprise business continuity and report readiness and risks to appropriate executive and board committees as needed, e.g. TORC and operational risk committee of the board.
  • Establish and maintain program policy, standards, guidelines and associated tools and reporting capabilities to enable business line compliance and monitoring of plans, preparedness, and key data.
  • Act as the delegate to the chief resiliency officer, as needed.

Experience:

  • 20+ years of financial services experience with a large financial services firm and/or advisory/consulting firm with extensive, in-depth, relevant experience in a similar role
  • Proven ability to lead and influence global teams and transformational initiatives in large, complex, multinational organizations, in highly regulated financial services industry.
  • Significant experience in leading crisis management efforts and incident response for high-impact events, ensuring the swift recovery of critical operations.
  • Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk management, operations, security, and business units, to embed resiliency practices into day-to-day operations.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive alignment across diverse teams and stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant global regulations, ideally resilience related.
  • Detailed understanding of non-financial risk frameworks.
  • Experience of working in an asset management or servicing business and/or a client centric organization, carrying material payments and settlements risk.
  • Experience working with external auditors, regulators, and industry bodies.
  • Experience presenting to senior executive stakeholder and relevant committees.
