Global Head of External CyberSecurity Engagement

The SVP, External Cybersecurity Engagement provides cybersecurity risk management and client engagement oversight to all State Street and legal entity businesses globally, sits within the first line of defense and reports into the Global Chief Information Security Officer. The SVP, External Cybersecurity Engagement will manage a team of cybersecurity experts focused on assessing cybersecurity risks associated with third party engagements and merger and acquisition activity. Additionally, the SVP will be responsible for helping to drive revenue retention and growth by overseeing all cybersecurity related client interactions. The interactions to include client due diligence efforts, client board presentations and the negotiation of contractual cybersecurity terms.

The SVP will be a strategic change agent that in addition to managing a team, will also be a thought leader in driving down cybersecurity risks associated with third party engagements and merger and acquisition activity, while also promoting our cybersecurity program to our business lines and client base. The SVP will be expected to manage in a collaborative manner while driving continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility. As a critical partner to the senior business leaders within the first line of defense, the incumbent must be skilled at influencing change to lead teams to better understand and manage the cybersecurity-risks related to third party engagements and merger and acquisition activity.

This role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills. The successful candidate must be able to engage with clients to strengthen their confidence in State Street's cybersecurity program and come to agreement on cybersecurity related commitments. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to assess cybersecurity risks at third parties and negotiate appropriate cyber commitments to protect our data in their care.

Other Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Partner with senior leaders to enable informed risk decisions providing them all relevant content necessary to formulate a prioritized path forward.
  • Key contact to ensure cybersecurity practices are built into the business unit management of third party relationships.
  • Overseeing and actively managing cybersecurity related merger and acquisition risks in line with risk appetite through continuous business unit and IT engagement.
  • Work closely with global cybersecurity to integrate newly acquired systems, applications and staff into our established cybersecurity operations and controls framework.
  • Represent the Global Cyber Security organization to internal business leaders and external clients.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge related to security threats, vulnerabilities and mitigations.
  • Establish key relationships with business executives, third party management, client relations, global technology services, second line and third lines of defense teams.
  • Openly support the CISO, management team, and executive leadership.
  • Lead, develop and mentor a geographically dispersed global team based.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of progressive cybersecurity experience with 6+ years within financial services.
  • 3+ years of operationally focused cybersecurity practitioner.
  • 5+ years' experience working with business leadership across enterprise projects.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal at all levels of the internal organization and external client base.
  • Able to acquire, motivate, and attain top talent through networking and relationships while building talent pipelines.
  • Ability to manage matrix team environments both direct and indirect reporting lines onsite and remotely.
  • Demonstrate strategic and tactical thinking, along with decision-making skills and business acumen.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Assurance, or related technical field.
  • CISSP or CISM required.
  • CRISC, and/or CISA preferable, but not required.

Salary Range:
$225,000 - $337,500 Annual
