Role Summary & Role Description:

The DevOps Manager tackles our organization's toughest technical problems and drives technical excellence at all levels, working with senior management to support execution of the organization's vision. The DevOps Manager is a person who cares deeply about the technical side of operations and making sure that everything is running smoothly. The ideal candidate loves being the person who interfaces between the dev team and the server maintenance/hosting team, understands technology deeply at both the server level and at the development level, understands where the gaps often are between these two, and is excited about filling those gaps and taking proactive steps to prevent web application emergencies from ever happening. The DevOps Manager manages service delivery and systems reliability and scalability including: reporting, configuration and build, testing, planning, and deployment of solutions and will be accountable for all aspects of deployment and technical operations including technical project resources (partners/subcontractors or staff), scheduling, risk management, internal and external communications, status reporting, and resource management (internal and partners), reporting to the AVP of Systems. The DevOps manger must be able to coordinate well between a variety of vendors and technical experts.

As DevOps Manager you will:

  • Manages and appropriately escalates delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes associated to the product development initiatives
  • Assigns and monitors work of technical personnel, ensuring that application development and deployment is done in the best possible way, and implements quality control and review systems throughout the development and deployment processes
  • Evaluates technological choices (network/hardware related and technology/code related) by querying providers and providing evaluations of each solution include ROI evaluations in the present and future implications, limitations, and opportunities
  • Manages analysis and approval of new code through security and performance gates that you will design and develop for feature-complete software. Be an advocate for security and performance standards in the organization
  • Manages operational aspect of production and development servers including developing, training in, and validating compliance with procedures and checklists related to disk space usage, monitoring solutions, deployment, conventions, access to the production and development sources, source control access and usage, performance monitoring, code modifications validation, scheduling, and more
  • Works within IT, cross-functionally and with vendors, in order to successfully identify, prioritize, and resolve issues and provide subject matter expertise for enhancements, developments, and operational improvements
  • Identifies trending gaps or issues in day-to-day performance of all applications and components by active monitoring, alert management, reporting, and process reviews
  • Maintains issue tracking and documentation systems and provides reporting that ensures proper tracking and visibility of issues and projects
  • Identifies technical and process improvement opportunities and socialize/advocate to get them implemented
  • Possesses expert technical understanding of the intersection of development and operations (DevOps), monitoring and management tools, and deployment processes and tools
  • Possesses high level understanding in the areas of web application programming, content management systems, API, databases, and system design
  • Provides process improvement recommendations based on best practices and industry standards
  • Is responsible for complex technical management coordination with multiple vendors and staff
  • Is responsible for the development of standards and processes for operations that proactively prevent problems from occurring
  • Is responsible for implementing optimized automated CI/CD processes, and working with teams to implement those processes in the enterprise DevOps technology stack - Mention individual stream details (Ex., SDLC governess, next gen, testing, etc.,)
  • Understanding customer requirements and project KPI
  • Configure build automation to execute the CI/CD processes in a clear, maintainable manner, with high-visibility into the build, test, servers and deployment phases
  • Work with application teams to help adopt continuous build, inspection, testing and deployment
  • Defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation
  • Monitoring the processes during the entire lifecycle for its adherence and updating or creating new processes for improvement and minimizing the wastage
  • Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible
  • Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management
  • Coordination and communication within the team and with customers
  • Work collaboratively and knowledge share with other divisions and corporate counterparts to foster the mindset of continuous improvement across the environment
  • Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline)
  • Managing periodic reporting on the progress to the management and the customer
  • Demonstrate creativity, ability to develop new ideas and approaches to problem solving

Core/Must have skills:

  • Banking and finance domain Knowledge
  • IT DevOps experience with gradually increasing responsibilities and a demonstrated understanding of DevOps and technical quality control processes, artifacts and tools
  • A track record as a coach, mentor, and developer of talent
  • An ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • An ability to quickly identify and drive to the optimal solution when presented with a series of constraints
  • Demonstrated ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, and project management
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices
  • Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills, and ability to achieve results without direct reporting relationships
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work, both personally and at a team level
  • Expertise in build tools Ant, Maven, npm and Gradle is must.
  • Experience with GitHub, Cloudbees Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, Jira. Experience of Cloudbees SDA, GitHub Actions, Jira X-ray, Artifactory, IBM UCD is big plus
  • Strong programming skills in JAVA, Unix, Scripting, SQL, Groovy, Java, Perl, Curl, Python
  • Experience with Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, etc., and cloud deployment technologies
  • Must have strong experience in writing automation scripts using shell script/groovy/Java
  • Experience with SDLC and Agile process with DevOps mindset

Good to have skills:

  • Experience/Knowledge in Harness is a big plus
  • Proven Skills in Problem Solving in Application Environments
  • Strong skills with various operating environments including UNIX, Linux, Windows, Virtual machines
  • You will have the opportunity to influence DevOps tools and techniques used as well participate or lead technology evaluations or proof of concepts so remaining active and current on technology trends is essential
  • Experience with automating deployment, scaling, and management of container applications using Docker
  • Experience with Ansible Tower and developing playbooks is a plus.
  • Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, and various platforms including AWS and Azure cloud instances experience a plus
  • Must have worked on devops continuous testing frameworks and testing automation.
  • Experience in cloud technologies(AWS/Azure/Google Cloud)
