Who we are looking for

The State Street Cyber Architecture & Engineering team is looking for a Cloud Platform/SRE Engineer. We deliver models, insights, and tooling to help Cybersecurity teams make faster, more informed decisions as we work to secure State Street's digital footprint.. We have multiple openings for this role and it is open to candidates with varying levels of experience.

What you will be responsible for

As a Cloud Platform/SRE Engineer, you will:

  • Undertake cloud service hardening, management of policy-as-code and associated pipelines, cloud security posture monitoring, cloud security consultation and reviews, cloud security enablement activities, cloud security incident response
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipeline of Cloud-based applications in a microservice architecture.
  • Support our development teams across multiple environments in an AGILE environment to build and manage infrastructure at large scale.
  • Write deployment tools and scripts by Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible to automate operational tasks and deployment of machines, services, and applications.
  • Develop and write the CI/CD pipelines tools and scripts for CI workflow by Jenkins, Docker and other micro-services.
  • Audit existing services for problems in infrastructure with security, configuration, or other possible issues.
  • Work with other cross-functional teams to scale and maintain data CICD pipeline processes.

  • A deep understanding of CI/CD tools, processes, and a strong desire to help teams release frequently to production with a focus on creating reliable high-quality results.
  • Experience with terraform, python, shell scripting, AWS services (EC2, ECS, etc), Policy-as-code, some Azure experience
  • At least 3+ years of SRE with administering, installation (Ubuntu) and maintenance of Linux versions of RHEL, Ubuntu, and CentOS in public cloud environments.
  • Working experience with Containers and Kubernetes either AWS, Azure or GCP cloud infrastructure.
  • Scripting/coding experience of continuous delivery (CD) GitOps practice with tools such as ArgoCD, Jenkins, CircleCI, or Spinnaker in deploying and maintaining services in AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud.
  • Deep understanding of either AWS, GCP and Azure resources and their limitations.
  • Develop tools and automation for system configuration, deployment and maintenance of our cloud environments while preserving high reliability and availability.
  • Solid understanding of Linux Servers, Commands and Troubleshooting, administration, automation frameworks.
  • Job Level Expectations Ability to algin with technical architecture and standards/process to deliver the best user experience.
  • Own the responsibility for optimizing and providing hands-on technical expertise to deploy Cloud services.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (IT), computer science, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience in industry, government, or consulting roles.
  • Experience building and securing cloud-based and on-premise environments such as AWS, Azure, GCP, CoLos and physical data centers.
  • Proven technical solutioning experience with current and emerging technologies including, but not limited to: Agile Development, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, System Hardening, DevSecOps, Cybersecurity, Cloud Security.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across internal and external organizations.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several projects or priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of personnel.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in IT, computer science, or related field with 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with cloud DevOps tooling and expertise in container native systems and associated security and scaling considerations - ability to work with and build tooling that works in a multi/hybrid cloud environment with modern CI/CD, IaC, DataOps, and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Experience working or developing Kubernetes autoscaling tools and deep experience with container and cloud security principles.
  • Experience with Information Security: applying STIGs, IAVAs, CIS hardening guidelines and maintaining/updating security documentation and systems security plans.
  • Experience with VMware/VMC, Nutanix, Network Platforms, Windows & Linux administration.
  • Security+ or other cybersecurity or network security certification.
  • Experience using common automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Terraform.
  • Experience with one or more common programming languages such as Python, Perl, etc.

Salary Range:
$100,000 - $160,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
