Business Continuity Officer - Complex Operations

The Complex Operations Business Continuity Officer will ensure a viable continuity plan exists for all operations and supporting technologies within the Complex Operations business unit. They will assist and coordinate the planning and testing of critical department personnel relocation, technical recovery solutions and incident response. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior business and/or technical units on the development of strategic continuity planning recoverability solutions.

The Business Continuity Officer will validate that solutions comply with corporate policies, standards, and guidelines, as well as making certain that any business-owned manual procedures and alternate solutions are viable for the duration of any major business interruption. The Business Continuity Officer will also identify and manage projects to enhance continuity plans and resolve gaps to ensure that appropriate business, application, and technology continuity solutions exist.

Business Continuity Officers serve as subject matter experts, and understand dependencies for business processes, business functions, applications, technology, and internal and external parties related to their business. In addition, Business Continuity Officers participate in and/or coordinate efforts to resolve issues related to cross-unit dependencies and activities initiated by the Enterprise Continuity Services team.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Complete Focal Impact Analysis (FIA) - working with cross-function teams locally, regionally and globally
  • Regular reporting preparation and presentation (compliance status reporting for Legal Entity Boards, Risk Committees, management teams, etc.)
  • Participation in and coordination with BCD and Business Incident Response Team (BIRT) on any business interrupting event responses
  • Compile/issue incident management updates and business impacts for senior management circulation
  • Maintain history of all incidents and provide incident reviews and updates as required
  • Arrange BCP testing across all Complex Operations functions - local, regional and global
  • Conduct annual desktop/simulation exercises with BCD and Business Incident Response Team (BIRT)
  • Coordinate and undertake BCP testing with 3rd party providers and clients where required
  • Update and maintain ArcherX records
  • Implement new/revised ECS Program Standards as required
  • Action ArcherX employee mapping requirements
  • Update and maintain Complex Operations BCP Representatives group (business unit BCTLs)
  • Provide regular updates on ECS Program to Complex Operations BCP Representatives (business unit BCTLs)
  • Maintain and update any Alternative Action Plans at least on an annual basis
  • Work with TPRM on 3rd party BCP contracts
  • Provide appropriate client BCP updates as required
  • Update and maintain Complex Operations BCP overview documentation for use with client queries
  • Provide BCP data and status updates to Compliance unit in relation to regulator queries
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of business continuity regulatory requirements through regular updates from Compliance unit

Characteristics:

  • Speed of response is essential in responding to all BCP requirements, and especially business-related events
  • Relationship management - ability to create and manage local, regional and global support network
  • Knowledge of business entities/functions is desirable

Qualifications:

  • Business Continuity Planning experience (desired)
  • Strong analytical, research and organizational skills
  • Strong written, oral and presentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Candidate must be able to work independently, be flexible in regards to day to day activities and multi-tasking, and work well under periods of pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
