Who we are looking for.

The candidate will provide legal advice and counsel to State Street's asset servicing business in the Americas (the Institutional Services Americas business) whose services include custody, accounting, fund administration, transfer agency, and other related services.

Critical areas of support include expanding client mandates for asset owners, insurance companies, investment managers (both alternative and traditional) and official institutions (central banks and sovereigns). In your role, you will strive to provide practical, scalable, and cutting-edge legal solutions related to new and existing business in a fast-paced environment.

What you will be responsible for.

You will be responsible for:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex agreements, including custody, fund administration, transfer agency, trust and related agreements.
  • Advising business partners regarding laws and regulations governing insurance companies, ERISA vehicles, state and municipal retirement and benefit plans, registered mutual funds, private funds, trust companies, and separately managed accounts.
  • Collaborating with internal legal, business, compliance and risk colleagues to address corporate-wide initiatives.
  • Handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with careful legal analysis and attention to detail.
  • Exercising sound legal and business judgment in dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to State Street business units.
  • Providing legal and regulatory advice to support changes to State Street's business model, including new products, services, and partnerships.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited US law school
  • License to practice law in Massachusetts or another state of the United States.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in a law firm or equivalent experience in the financial services sector
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work, manage time effectively and balance competing interests while ensuring good outcomes for the negotiating parties.

Salary Range:
$90,000 - $142,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
