Your new team

The Middle Office team is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the trade confirmation, settlement, reconciliation investigation, IBOR integrity and ALERT maintenance processes for our EMEA aligned business. Products range includes Equities, Fixed Income, REPO, Clean Cash, NPV's, Novations, Spot & Forward FX transactions, and Unitised Funds. Middle Office Transaction Management cooperates with Asset managers, Traders, Brokers and other counterparties.

Middle Office business unit in State Street is the link between Front Office Traders and Backstage of financial market. We sit in the center where our role is to support clients' investments through confirmation and market settlement of the transactions made. It means we speak directly with "the street": Investment Managers, Banks, Brokers, Custodians and other parties from around the globe. We have under the bonnet knowledge of full lifespan on investment - from client-driven execution through settlement on the financial markets, SWIFT know how and expertise inclusive. Our main duties comprise of supporting FX, Cash, Equity, Fixed Income, Money Market trades, showing how financial world is built in practise and offering a front row seats to observe it's ever changing nature. Your new role


As an Alpha Middle Office Senior Manager you will:

  • Manage Alpha Middle Office teams: KPI setting, performance and staff development management, team budget management
  • Assist Business Unit Head to execute overall business plan in assigned areas through taking ownership in implementations of global changes within functional area
  • Create and maintain all critical business relationships, both internally and externally
  • Develop effective working relationships and communications with staff and ensure that staff are motivated, developed and supported
  • Maintain Transaction Management unit operations performing middle office functions (trade confirmation) for multiple Asset Mangers across fixed income, equity, unit trusts, money market, FX and cash instruments.
  • Act as senior escalation point and subject matter expert (claims and failed trade management, emerging market deals, free of payment/bespoke transactions)
  • Represent Transaction Management on forums where senior presence is required
  • Play key part in performance governance through KPI/KRI management, client relationship management (Service Level Agreements reviews)
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and process efficiency
  • Display a culture of individual ownership and accountability in performing the role
  • Prepare reports for audit and audit assistance

What we value

Experience and qualifications needed to succeed in the role

  • 8-10 years of transaction management experience in a large financial services organization preferred - a detailed understanding of the procedural, technical and product requirements within middle office transaction management field
  • Above 5 years of team management and team leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of financial markets; familiarity with custodian cut offs for various financial products and settlement methodologies
  • Industry utility experience preferred - Omgeo CTM, ALERT, GTSS, SWIFT
  • Understand global markets tendencies and enforced regulations i.e. T2S, MIFIID 2
  • Understanding of change management and Lean best practice theories, with practical experience is preferred
  • Fluent English - strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired skills and competencies

  • PC skills, including MS Office applications Word, Excel, Project and Visio
  • Academic background, preferred degree in economics, finance, science or engineering
  • Client service and solutions driven mind-set, including ability to work with third-party Senior management
  • Good management, leadership and team working skills
  • Ability to negotiate and influence effectively in group discussion
  • Ability to deal with global operating parties in an efficient manner, considering cultural differences
