Job Description - Enterprise Application Environments Management Lead - Managing Director

Who we are looking for

The Alpha Professional Services team in Boston, MA is looking for a qualified individual to lead our environment and data strategy workstream. This individual must bring strong experience in end-to-end environment strategy, architecture and workflow design, data analysis and business system flows in order to create and execute environment designs for our industry leading front-to-back client servicing platform. The successful candidate must be skilled in managing multi-year programs consisting of complex business models and flows across front, middle, and back office operating models in both an insourced and outsourced model. The successful candidate must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, technical architecture knowledge and understanding of global portfolio management, trading, and compliance functions across asset classes. In addition, this position requires experience managing a small global team which will require recruiting, team building, mentorship and performance management. This position will interact with, and demand exposure to the highest levels of executive management within State Street and within our clients' organizations.

The team you will be joining is a part of a global, cross-divisional group supporting State Street AlphaSM. State Street AlphaSM redefines the common definition of 'alpha' to mean powering better performance and outcomes at every point on the investment lifecycle and is the first open platform from a single provider that connects the front, middle and back office. It harmonizes data, technology, and services across trusted providers to help our clients better manage their businesses. This role is critical to our ability to implement the Alpha platform in a more efficient and effective manner by managing the initiation of environments for each implementation, driving the seeding of required data and engaging with client teams to coordinate change of the each environment.

What you will be responsible for

  • This client facing role will be responsible for managing a team of people responsible for the management of end-to-end Alpha environments and data strategy programs that onboard new clients onto State Street's front-to-back platform
  • Continue to build out the environment management function including the documentation of the environment management strategy to be used or each implementation, improving team processes and workflows
  • Lead creation and delivery of standardized documentation to support the implementation (strategy documents, playbooks, architecture documentation, data insights etc. )
  • Navigate complex client relationships, build strong business relationships, and manage expectations with client stakeholders. Coach team members to ensure there is proficiency in this area across the team
  • Lead various stages of the implementation lifecycle across multiple simultaneous global clients
  • Support business development and sales efforts through consultative client engagement
  • Provide regular status updates and support program management reports as needed

  • Experience in Agile Methodology and tools (e.g., JIRA, Rally, RTC) preferred
  • Front/ Middle office platforms experience is useful.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above. 15+ years of financial industry experience across front office functionality along with middle (IBOR) and back-office systems, services and data domains.
  • Minimum 5 years managing a specialized team with focus on team member mentoring and growth
  • Strong client management experience especially at operations and technical executive levels
  • Technology background and CFA/ FRM charters are highly appreciated.
  • Strong environment strategy and architecture design experience.
  • Strong experience in data mining, ETL experience platforms, data visualization/ reporting/ presentation tools. Exposure to messaging protocols, public/ private cloud platforms and EDMs
  • Experience integrating with other industry providers/ consulting partners to promote platform interoperability (e.g., Deliotte, Accenture, PWC, Bloomberg PORT, Charles River Development, BRS Aladdin, SimCorp Dimension, Factset, Fidessa Minerva, Eze Software)

Salary Range:
$160,000 - $250,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
