The Subscriptions R&D team oversees the entire user journey on Spotify and ensures we engage with people in innovative ways, every step of the way. Within this team, the Lingo squad builds localized experiences that accelerate our Premium subscriber growth in emerging markets. In the last few years we've experimented with celebrating cultural moments (Diwali, Ramadan) and are now focusing on building premium fandom experiences around K-Pop and I-Pop, and scaling them globally.
What You'll Do
- You will collaborate with a team of engineers, product, designers and data scientists to build end-to-end client facing experiences used by millions of users
- You will architect, develop, and operate backend systems that can scale globally, following good design and development practices
- You will take operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team, including joining an on-call rotation
- You will be a key leader in the team who can coach others and drive our ways of working in a spirit of continuous improvement

Who You Are
- You have 5+ years experience of building and operating backend services with Java frameworks
- You enjoy working collaboratively on a full-stack team, using agile processes to deliver a project in incremental phases
- You solve problems methodically and can investigate issues in complex systems with a positive and proactive attitude
- You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high-quality code
- You enjoy learning as well as teaching others. Our engineers are T-shaped, which means being capable of using the right technology as a tool when needed
- You are able to reason about trade offs of different databases and preferably have hands on experience with SQL and No SQL ones
- You're passionate about your work, striving towards the goals of the team and, ultimately, the Spotify mission - “giving a million creative artists the opportunity to live off their art and billions of fans the opportunity to enjoy and be passionate about it"
