Title: Assistant Director of Career, Real Estate

Department: SEO Career

Reports To: Senior Director of Programs, SEO Career 

FLSA: Exempt

Compensation: $94,000 - $110,000 (Annually)

Location: Hybrid – 2 days a week in office; some in-person event attendance is required.

All candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY 10005, upon hire.

SUMMARY:

As Assistant Director of Real Estate, you join the SEO Career Programs Team and serve as the direct supervisor of the Real Estate Track, funded through a partnership with the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA). Through day-to-day program management, leadership of Career Development Advisors, and successful communications and collaborations with the Assistant Director of Training & Development and Partnerships and Strategy Team, you will ensure that the Real Estate Track hits its target goal of matching talented students with internship opportunities at partners and driving towards targeted offer rates.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategy (5%)
    • Work with SEO Career leadership to set strategy for the Real Estate Program Track
    • Leverage your experience and perspective to contribute to strategic conversations about Career
  • Program Management and Cross-Department Collaboration (60%)
    • Oversee SEO Career’s Real Estate Program Track
    • Manage the end-to-end experience of participants on the Real Estate track as they progress from Edge through Partner Access to Success
    • Display mastery of the interview process and internship experience of participants in the track in collaboration with the Partnerships and Strategy Team
    • Anticipate the need to collaborate with Associate Director, Recruiting and Recruitment Team to source right-fit candidates
    • Collaborate with Assistant Director of Training & Development to develop industry-relevant curricula for training resources, plan industry-specific enrichment events, and develop training and networking events
    • Facilitate integration with Career Mentors in conjunction with Assistant Director of Training & Development in order to ensure Real Estate participants receive relevant support
    • Monitor the Real Estate Track's Career Mentor staffing needs and alert the Assistant Director of Training & Development to changing requirements
    • Provide Real Estate Track-relevant information to the Events team to support the design of clinics and summits
  • People Management (25%)
    • Serve as the direct supervisor of Real Estate Track Career Development Advisors (~2 FTE) for Edge, Partner Access, and Success tasked with providing direct support to Real Estate candidates and interns
    • Research and implement professional development opportunities for direct reports
  • Data and Reporting (10%)
    • Improve program outcomes by monitoring process, progress, and feedback and utilizing data to inform decision-making
    • Regularly report on program performance to Senior Director of Programs and other SEO Career leadership

Other duties to be assigned in service of the Careers team objectives and SEO’s mission.

 EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in business preferred.
  • 7+ years of professional experience required; 3-5 years of work experience within financial services, career services, learning & development, or a similar field. Direct experience in project/program management within a nonprofit or educational setting is a plus. 
  • 2+ years of direct and progressive people management experience within roles of increasing autonomy and responsibility. Must be experienced in leading across differences and managing experienced professionals.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the commercial real estate industry. A background in working with real estate partners or students is highly preferred.
  • Evidence of pre-professional or early professional coaching, mentorship, or professional development experience required.
  • General technical proficiencies within a cloud-based environment, including using MS365 products, Box, Monday.com, and advanced Excel. Direct experience with learning management systems (LMS) and/or Salesforce desired.
  • Excellent communications skills. Must be proficient communicating across email, chat, and phone; a high degree of comfort with public speaking, presentation, and training is a plus.

  • Leadership: Proven ability as people manager. Able to inspire staff to serve SEO Career’s mission while providing decision-making and supervisory capabilities.
  • Program Management: Results-focused with a proven track record of execution through program management. Adept at learning and using technology, systems, and processes with a strong ability to manage deadlines and prioritize deliverables. Outstanding organizational and proofreading skills with an attention to detail.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to build relationships across (and outside of) an organization and influence key stakeholders to get results through collaboration. Ability to quickly gain a working knowledge of how distinct parts of SEO Career’s organization function. Deep understanding of the needs of SEO Career’s Commercial Real Estate Partners.
  • Strategic Communication: Able to communicate in writing and orally in a manner that is understandable to a diverse audience, including candidates, current SEO Career student interns, partners, SEO Career recruitment team members, and executive team members. Expertise in drawing meaningful insights from data to tell a narrative and operationalize solutions. Comfortable with speaking and presenting in public and matching narrative to meet audience needs.
  • Critical Thinking and Flexibility: Capable of anticipating needs, employing best resources, and employing careful decision making. Able to adjust to changes and work demands quickly while maintaining a strategic and tactical vision to efficiently complete work. Ability to be both a self-starter and a team player who builds people-first relationships and always prioritizes the participant and partner experience.
  • Content Development: An ability to leverage subject matter expertise to create culturally relevant, interesting, and engaging industry-specific professional development content.
