Quality Engineer III

Position Objective
The Quality Engineer III performs inspections and sets quality assurance testing models for analysis of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products. Assists in developing quality control policies and evaluates production limitations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for support of manufacturing operations as related to quality of the product or other area of responsibility.
  • Use quality and continuous improvement tools including Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC to develop appropriate measurement systems to evaluate product quality.
  • Execute continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing process variation, improving defect prevention and detection, and enhanced product reliability.
  • Proactively resolve product process and system issues, drive improvement in process design, layout, and operational performance.
  • Provide KPIs to management at defined intervals.
  • Applies failure analysis and root cause analysis as required within the quality engineering discipline.
  • Support product development utilizing the APQP process.
  • Performs audits on processes and procedures to ensure compliance to specifications, engineering drawings, procedures and ISO-9001/AS9100.
  • Lead Corrective and Preventative Action teams utilizing RCCA methodology
  • May be required to provide training and/or direction to quality inspectors, technicians or manufacturing operators.
  • Uses Sparton policies and procedures to complete work assignments.
  • Keeps accurate and complete records of quality engineering activities.
  • Generates and submits quality documentation.
  • Conduct validations of production processes to ensure compliance to specifications.
  • May require input to bid and proposal activities.
  • Interfaces with customers on quality-related issues.
  • May be required to participate in field test of product.

Required Education and Experience

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Engineering or Quality or, related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • >5 years of experience in the area of Quality or relevant field.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • AS9100 or ISO9001 Lead Auditor Certification by a certifying body
  • Ability to oversee multiple product lines' quality control and flex to any product line seamlessly
  • Ability to self-lead and coach RCCA's
  • Act as coach and mentor for Level 1 QE & Quality Inspectors
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (can be obtained during employment)
  • Certified Quality Engineer
