SR. FINANCIAL SYSTEMS ANALYST, TAX

SpaceX is looking for an experienced Sr. Financial Systems analyst to join our growing team. This role will support a variety of financial processes, with a core focus on tax, which includes 3rd party software and in-house systems. The Sr. Financial Systems Analyst, Tax will be responsible for maintaining our tax engine used for sales and use tax/VAT/GST determination and various indirect tax reporting around the world, as well as identifying systems and process improvements for income tax and tax provision reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage tax engine and tax systems used in sales & use tax and value-added tax determination and reporting around the world
  • Assist with implementation, maintenance, and documentation of the indirect tax automation and reporting process, including potential cutovers from one software vendor to another
  • Ensure new indirect tax jurisdictions and requirements are configured and activated in the tax engine in a timely and efficient manner
  • Be the link between the tax department, software engineering, Starlink consumer applications, as well as external vendors
  • Design and implement tax solutions and related processes for tax data management/analytics, including writing SQL queries to obtain complete and accurate data needed for tax filings
  • Find opportunities for tax automation and process efficiencies
  • Troubleshoot international tax issues customer support and Starlink consumer software
  • Leverage APIs to integrate data
  • Customize the tax engine through configuration
  • Act as tax systems project lead, covering requirements, solution design, development, implementation, and testing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of work experience in tax systems/technology/financial systems
  • 2+ years of experience with SQL
  • Tax engine support experience (i.e. Vertex or OneSource)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in implementing/supporting tax technology products, such as OneSource, Vertex, Corp Tax and other similar tax software
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, engineering or finance
  • Experience working with Alteryx
  • Basic knowledge of Python
  • Experience working with various tax technology ecosystems, and a willingness to quickly learn and adapt to new one
  • Strong data management and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Experience defining data and reporting requirements for the multinational tax department
  • Project management experience, including the creation of project plans, milestones, and due dates
  • Broad understanding of sales & use tax/value-added tax
  • Exposure to businesses operating in multiple foreign countries
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA (Los Angeles area), and requires being onsite full-time – hybrid and remote work will not be considered
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:    

Pay range:    

Sr. Financial Systems Analyst: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
