LEAD SUPPLY CHAIN RELIABILITY ENGINEER (STARSHIP)

SpaceX demands a new type of supply chain. We require our suppliers to provide premium quality with rapidly evolving designs at increasingly ambitious volumes. We are actively looking for candidates who possess comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and quality tools and have unrelenting motivation to enable suppliers/supply chain for success. This position requires a combination of proven leadership and technical capabilities.

As a Lead Supply Chain Reliability Engineer, your primary responsibility is to assess the risks that can impact Supply Chain procured product quality and/or process performance. Lead cross-functional efforts to address risks identified while maintaining operations efficiencies and supply chain's ability to incorporate rapid changes. Through successive cross-functional projects, you would build a deep understanding of SpaceX systems and processes and become a critical voice in the development of group and company strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of engineers and quality specialist, providing mentorship, guidance, and accountability for team performance
  • Interface with Production operations, Inspection, Shipping/Receiving, and Engineering teams to develop appropriate quality signals and processes to meeting overall program reliability goal
  • Maintain established quality processes and necessary procedures to ensure the identification, segregation, control, and disposition of all nonconforming materials, parts, components, and subassemblies at the business and supplier level
  • Responsible for Containment actions associated with non-conforming product, including identification of product location, coordination with Build Reliability Engineers of potential flight risks and the coordination of actions required to identify root cause analysis
  • Lead cross functional supplier quality investigations. Coordinate failure resolution and follow-up actions to avoid further mishaps.
  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports. Assist in process certification
  • Perform independent technical field qualification and verification of supplier capabilities and ongoing reliability. Execute corrective actions as a result of audit
  • Collaborate with multiple organizations to identify improvement opportunities and lead, manage and execute improvement projects

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline 
  • 3+ years of experience in quality systems, quality assurance/control, and/or manufacturing/production
  • Experience with AS9100, ISO 9000 and/or Nadcap AC7004

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree in engineering or supply chain
  • Good written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate autonomously and self-direct
  • Previous leadership experience
  • SQL, software development & project management, process flow mapping, material planning systems, warehouse management systems
  • Ability to think big, align teams and organizations behind a goal, and execute with sustained results
  • Lean and six sigma experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work extended hours and some nights and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones
  • Must be able to travel - up to 40% work week travel may be required, including international travel
  • This position is based in Starbase, TX and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
  • Valid driver’s license

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
Lead Supply Chain Reliability Engineer: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
