Lead SMT Technician (Starship) - 1st Shift

LEAD SMT TECHNICIAN (STARSHIP) - 1ST SHIFT 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assign and prioritize work based on production schedule.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications; independently perform verifications, and document results in a clear, precise and complete manner.
  • Schedule risk identification and mitigation.
  • Coordinate support organization efforts to minimize production interruptions.
  • Enforce area standards and run rules.
  • Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with personnel training and development.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and the implementation of corresponding corrective action plans.
  • Maintain area metrics, tooling, and consumable supply inventory.
  • Document non-conformances and associated rework.
  • Work to quickly return non-conforming product back into normal workflow.
  • Assist with transitioning product from engineering development and initial production to full rate production.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics, experience working in SMT, or other high-volume manufacturing.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of experience working in the SpaceX production department.
  • Associate degree.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and programming of SMT equipment such as pick-and-place, reflow ovens, stencil printers, X-ray, AOI, selective solder, polymerics, and conformal coat.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment with flight hardware.
  • Strong skills in mathematics, computers, problem solving, decision-making, and written/verbal communication.
  • Soldering proficiency including IPC or JSTD certification.
  • Strong understanding of technical documentation, engineering drawings, and schematics.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to distinguish colors is required.
  • Must be willing to work 1st shift hours, overtime, and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Standing for long periods of time, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:    

Pay range:    

Level 3: $27.50 - $35.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential    

Level 4: $32.00 - $40.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential    

Level 5: $36.00 - $45.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential    

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
