LEAD LAUNCH PAD TECHNICIAN

The Lead Launch Pad Technician coordinates all on-site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest level of quality, supervising all trade and field personal, and administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities. They also maintain the job site and close out projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities
  • Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, and with quality workmanship that conforms to the original plans and specifications
  • Maintain the construction schedule; identify and solve problems
  • Coordinate material and equipment deliveries, and schedule inspections as necessary throughout the construction process
  • Understand the project plans, specifications, and SpaceX construction purchasing systems
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the SpaceX end user, contractors, suppliers, and other SpaceX employees
  • Communicate changes in schedule, and supervise completion of the final punch list including general site cleanup
  • Promote job site safety; encourage safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards immediately
  • Hold weekly job safety meeting with the on-site contractors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Ensure all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy
  • Maintain safety and security coordination for upcoming construction projects
  • Perform on-site surveying including layout and as-builts
  • Obtain and audit contractor daily reports; stay ahead of budget, and communicate change orders
  • Maintain an organized job site and on-site construction “office”

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience using power tools in a hands-on capacity
  • 3+ years of experience in the construction industry

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with construction of civil and/or mechanical systems
  • 3+ years of successful project management, supervision, and expediting experience
  • Experience managing multiple projects and working all phases of construction
  • Hands-on experience installing civil infrastructure projects such as underground utilities
  • Experience working with excavators, loaders, motor graders, dozers, trenchers, etc.
  • Experience performing area, volume and grade calculations in the field
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, and goal oriented
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage diverse personalities

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical effort including sitting or standing for extended periods of time and lifting and carrying weight such as materials or equipment (25 lbs. unassisted)
  • Work performed in an environment with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • Occasionally exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments (heat, cold, rain)
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends, which varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: 

Pay range:    
Level 3: $30.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential    
Level 4: $35.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential    
Level 5: $40.00 - $50.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential    

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
