HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - LEVEL 4

As a member of the Construction Projects team you will work with a group of elite engineers and specialists across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the McGregor Rocket Development Facility as well as other SpaceX Facilities. This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facilities improvements and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced and low-drag environment.  This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in McGregor, Texas (Central Texas area).

• Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company operating safety policies and procedures
• Move and position raw materials and finished components with use of material moving equipment
• Safely and efficiently operate earthmoving equipment to support various infrastructure projects across the site including streets and drainage construction/maintenance, utility installation, commercials pads, etc.
• Perform inspection, maintenance and repair of excavators, backhoe, bulldozers, graders, or loaders
• Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedule, and cost estimates prior to project implementation
• Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 8+ years of professional experience working hands-on with heavy equipment, heavy equipment operations and/or production maintenance

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience operating excavators, loaders, motor graders, dozers, and trenchers to designed grades and elevations
• Experience in field layout and staking using tape measures, string lines, transit levels, and laser levels
• Proficiency in reading construction documents
• Proficiency in calculating percent grade, calculating volumes, and establishing and using site benchmarks
• Experience in performing topographic, construction staking, and as-builts using GPS and/or total station equipment
• Experience installing civil infrastructure such as underground dry and wet utilities and road construction
• Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management
• Experience in directing work in field between trades and contractors, coordinating critical path work to maintain project schedules
• Experience in using AutoCAD or Autodesk Civil 3D
• Valid CDL

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work at elevated heights (200+ feet)
• Physical effort with lifting and carrying materials or equipment (up to 30 lbs. unassisted)
• Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
• Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
• Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required
• Must be able to climb ladders and work in tight spaces
• Valid driver’s license
• Occasional travel may be required to support projects at other sites

Pay range:    
Heavy Equipment Operator/Level 4: $35.00 - $48.00/hour    

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
