COOK (MARINE OPERATIONS) - TEMPORARY

We are looking for passionate and experienced culinary individuals to join our culinary team in support of our Marine Operations vessels: Bob, Doug, Megan, and Shannon! As an onboard cook, you are expected to provide quality service in all areas of food preparation and production for menu items and specials while on the vessels in accordance with departmental and company standards along with management expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare food items for all vessel crew and any other personnel onboard the vessel, ensuring at least three meals a day are provided to all with consistency and compliance with recipes, portioning, cooking, and waste control guidelines
  • Provide courteous and informative customer service in an "open kitchen" format, while ensuring that assigned station is stocked and clean
  • Follow restaurant guidelines concerning guest services, food and physical safety, maintenance, and equipment/space cleaning requirements at all times
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment
  • Maintain onboard provision inventory as per Marine Operations’ requirements and coordinate ordering and delivery with respect to vessel schedule

POSITION DETAILS:

This is a temporary rotational position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, with potential to become full time position.

  • LENGTH OF POSITION: 1 month, option to extend (permanent hire conversion is possible based on performance and business need)
  • LOCATION: Cape Canaveral, FL

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • United States Passport

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Maritime industry experience
  • Comfortable working onboard seagoing vessels
  • Experience underway on vessels as Chief Steward or Executive Chef
  • High-volume cooking experience
  • Experience with daily changing menus
  • Current and valid SERV Safe or Food Handler's card or equivalent
  • Friendly customer service attitude

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Ability to work 52-60 hours per week
  • Weekend availability
  • Ability to work holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to work in continuously-standing position for 5+ hours
  • Ability to work with hands continuously: chop, stir, scrape, scrub
  • Ability to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Level 1: $21.00/hour

Level 2: $23.00/hour

Level 3: $25.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for potential discretionary bonuses.
