In this role, you will collaborate with the Senior Manager of the Project Management Office (PMO) to prioritize, plan, and implement a portfolio of projects, ensuring that project management disciplines are applied effectively. You will lead a large portfolio of construction and physical security projects aimed at mitigating risks related to SCE's physical security concerns, providing hands-on project management, resource coordination, budget management, and vendor oversight. Your responsibilities will also include evaluating and approving technical submittals and design standards, guiding the implementation of evolving security technology standards, and interacting with all levels of management as a key consultant.

A day in the life will involve leading a portfolio of complex projects with significant financial and regulatory risks, independently coordinating cross-functional teams and contractors, and establishing portfolio metrics and reporting. You will document project requirements and budgetary needs, alert the PMO manager and Corporate Security management of potential risks, and lead the development of standards and process and procedures. Communication and collaboration with internal and external resources will be essential, as all SCE employees promote safety and adhere to SCE safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manages activities of one or more large, mid to long-term projects with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and outcomes
  • Develops business plans, objectives and initiatives for the organization
  • Provides inputs to organizational objectives and policies and ensures delivery of results
  • Engages regularly with senior management as a key consultant on critical business issues
  • Identifies and manages resolution of major or complex project issues in order to meet goals of the project and maintain timeline and budget for the project
  • Implements, establishes, and maintains key strategic metrics that ensure project effectiveness
  • Maintains transparent and efficient resource planning and allocation process for ongoing projects within the assigned area of responsibility; Ensures all on-going project strategies are in compliance with SCE standards, as well as political and regulatory requirements when applicable
  • Develops resource and financial requirements from the project plan; Analyzes and determines regulatory impacts and requirements of the project
  • Analyses project portfolio performance and financial reporting, continuously improving reporting using multiple tools and key performance metric tracking; Facilitates the internal information exchange for key stakeholders by providing project status reports
  • Identifies project performance issues, analyzes and addresses them in a timely manner; Participates in the analysis of the project portfolio performance and financial reporting, continuously improving reporting using multiple tools and key performance metric tracking
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters' degree or higher in Business, Engineering or related field.
  • Five years of experience developing large-scale capital operating plans and financial forecasting models.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or Professional Engineering (PE) certification.
  • Five years of experience leading/managing, conceptualizing, executing and implementing small and large-scale construction projects and complex project portfolios with an element of technology including scope, schedule and budget responsibilities.
  • Two or more years of leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Experience interfacing and collaborating with executive and senior management, peers, regulatory agencies, and external clients to develop solutions.
  • Possess excellent, engaging, and persuasive communication, and presentation skills (oral & written); both 1:1 and large audiences.

Additional Information

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 30% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
