In this job, you'll perform analytics and calculations of settlement charges assessed by the CAISO over a portfolio of utility owned generation, power purchase agreements, and demand response resources. You'll be part of an energetic team of CAISO Settlement Analysts reporting directly to the Senior Manager of CAISO Settlements. This position is in the Energy Procurement and Management organization which is contributing to SCE's goal to be recognized by our industry as a high-performance organization.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes existing or devises new, innovative models and methodologies to correlate large volumes of data into understandable conclusions
  • Provides support to the group responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payment of a diverse portfolio of contracts of simple structure
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to manage short-term procurement tasks, including, but not limited to energy scheduling, position management, and resource bidding
  • Works with senior members of the team to analyze, present, and implement strategies for a complete complex analysis, often of moderate significance and/or risk to the Company
  • Helps ensure compliance with the terms of new and operational contracts, seeks new value from existing contracts, and provides detailed reporting on contracts
  • Helps with the development and enhancement of scheduling and bidding and processes through automation
  • Learns and understands ISO markets and correlations to SCE's power contract payments and meter data for settlements
  • Reviews CAISO market information, solves business problems and supports analyses of new business situations
  • Undertakes settlement initiatives and work functions, including onboarding and offboarding readiness
  • Aids in monitoring market conditions at the system level and provides warning and market analysis of potential system emergency conditions
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience analyzing complex financial data.
  • Experience with the data requirements and developing dashboards for energy markets/procurement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Engineering.
  • Understanding of the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), PJM, NE-ISO, MISO, or NYISO market design, rules and procedures.
  • Experience in functions related to ISO settlements, systems analyses, electricity trading or marketing.
  • Experience with validating energy, capacity, and emissions settlements.
  • Experience in creating management reports and effectively communicating complex technical information to diverse audiences in clear, non-technical terms.
  • Experience with financial and/or quantitative analyses.
  • Strong foundation in statistics, mathematics, and computer programming with respect to data sciences and big data analytics.
  • Experience with PowerBI, SettleCore, or other visual analytical tools to be used for trending analyses.
  • Proficiency in building spreadsheet models using VBA coding for macros and forms.
  • Experience in writing SQL queries to retrieve data from Oracle and SQL Server databases.

Additional Information

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.\u202f Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.\u202f Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
