  • Oversee CAISO market models and daily market offers to enhance the performance of the Generation fleet.
  • Monitor market conditions and trends, and proactively adjust the portfolio strategy to capitalize on market dynamics. Engaging in CAISO market design initiatives and evaluating operational modifications for the Generation assets.
  • Apply analytical skills to assess and increase the market revenue potential of Generation assets. Leveraging dispatch optimization models for scenario analysis to aid in investment decision-making.
  • Maintain a comprehensive record of market performance metrics for Generation assets and providing informative reports.
  • Supporting initiatives to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency by optimizing maintenance strategies, integrating innovative technologies, and considering asset consolidation when beneficial.

The essentials

  • Five or more years of work experience in an analytical role, including experience with data science, statistical, econometric, or financial modeling.

The preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Data Science or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with building, analyzing, and maintaining complex optimization, numerical, or dispatch models.
  • Experience with strategic planning, trading, and/or analysis of energy market generation portfolios in deregulated wholesale power markets.
  • Understanding of CAISO or other similar energy market experience.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel or other analytical tools.
  • Experience with dispatch optimization tools such as Plexos, VISTA, etc.
  • Experience with programming languages such as VBA, Excel Macros, Python, PowerBI, etc.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
