Become a Collateral Security Specialist (CSS) at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will assume a key role on the desk processing collateral instruments to manage credit exposures around Energy Procurement & Management, Transmission & Distribution, Supply Chain Management, and Customer Service activities. The CSS will oversee collateral holdings, such as letters of credit, parental guarantees, surety bonds, escrow accounts, and cash, to ensure appropriate compliance based on contractual credit terms. The CSS will be responsible for compiling data to respond to regulatory requests and internal/external audits.

The CSS must be able to work under strict timelines since other internal partners are dependent on much of their work. The CSS must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and will be expected to independently identify and resolve issues. The Specialist may also recommend and implement improvements to complex spreadsheets in order to streamline processes and meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and resolves contract inquiries from internal parties
  • Supports energy procurement activities through Requests for Offer (RFOs) for various energy resources, including renewable resources (includes all resource types, i.e., energy storage, renewable and non-renewable resources). Role includes utilizing systems and tools
  • Assists in operationalizing the signoff and execution process of new contracts and amendments to contracts
  • Aids in ensuring SOX procedures are adhered to and maintain adequate records for auditing purposes
  • Support contract payment process through utilization of complex analytical tools that integrate varied and large volumes of data (e.g., 5 minute interval for metering, outage and forecast information, and CAISO market data). Identify and problem solve potential errors or unusual data outputs
  • Assists with compliance reporting and responding to larger or more complex data requests from regulators and CPUC intervenors
  • Aids in developing new contract compliance programs to support achievement of business objectives
  • Completes data entries in the contract management database
  • Participates in identifying opportunities to further streamline process and improve productivity
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience with data analysis and contract management in energy or utility industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications such as Excel (i.e. Power BI), Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with energy contracts, risk management related to energy procurement, or the CAISO market
  • Knowledge of accounting processes and procedures
  • Experience with macros and database queries
  • Knowledge of Entegrate, Endur, or other commodity trading systems
  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise wide ERP system
  • Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment

Additional Information

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
