THE ROLE
The NBA Authenticator will be responsible for verifying and authenticating game-worn NBA memorabilia through photomatching and other authentication processes. This role requires a highly detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of NBA game-worn items, an ability to analyze photographic and video evidence for authentication, and experience working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in sports memorabilia authentication and a deep knowledge of the NBA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Authentication Coordination:
- Conduct detailed photomatching analysis of game-worn NBA memorabilia using high-resolution images and video footage.
- Utilize digital tools to compare items against verified game footage, photographs, and historical references.
- Work with third-party authenticators and NBA teams to confirm authenticity and maintain accuracy.
- Maintain and update authentication reports, detailing provenance and matching findings.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with the sports industry, particularly the NBA, is highly desirable.
Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with the sports industry, particularly the NBA, is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of authentication processes and standards within the sports memorabilia industry.
The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $60,000-$65,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
