THE ROLE

Reporting to the Global Head of Business Development, this role is responsible for designating and delivering the Company’s business plan and objectives in the Americas by managing the regional team and establishing a relationship-centric model. You are expected to have strong leadership skills to develop and drive the Americas team toward organizational and business success.

The Americas span Sotheby’s footprint in North and South America in addition to the company's headquarters in New York and is a significant source of existing and new business for the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the Global Head of Business Development to define strategic growth plans for the wider region and its individual constituents.
  • Establish a relationship-centric model and closely monitor and manage the targets and performance of the regional relationship management team in accordance with global business development
  • Oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives and address performance management, evaluation, and business development matters.
  • Manage P&L, including ongoing performance management, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Plan, lead and manage the region’s organizational setup, including the real estate network and leases or key vendors in partnership with the Operations and Marketing team.
  • Maintain and develop the organization’s culture, values, and reputation both internally and externally, while upholding compliance, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing and new relationships.
  • Fulfill a public role, including speaking engagements, representing Sotheby’s in the region as relevant.

EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • 15+ years working experience with proven management experience
  • Proven track record of leadership and team management in a client service environment
  • Proven regional leadership experience
  • Demonstrated track record in building and cultivating relationships with UHNWI a plus
  • Degree Educated (or equivalent) in Business related field
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills; ability to successfully engage at a senior leadership level
  • Ability to work in a team orientated environment; collaboration and communication are critical
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is extremely dynamic

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $160,000-$225,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
