Job Summary

Sr Field Engineering Specialists must be able to work closely with the Lead Technician, Project Manager and Network Engineer on fiber optic and wireless network equipment commissioning and integration activities. Must be able to assist in construction, inspection, and maintenance of communication Equipment and Technology. Must be responsible for demonstrating a sufficient aptitude for acquiring the skills and knowledge involved in the competent performance of the tasks relating to communications equipment installation and troubleshooting activities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct site acceptance procedures.
  • Maintain, and notifies supervisor of low inventory stock supplies.
  • Clean, maintain, and stock vehicles and equipment to be prepared to perform required duties.
  • Facilitate the assembly and installation of network equipment, Telecommunications Power and battery systems, and any related items within the work order.
  • Craft custom or modifies pre-existing power, ground, and communications cables according to provided documentation or instruction.
  • Install related cabling following company standards and/or instruction.
  • Inspect and tests existing ground or makes new ground according to the IEEE and/or National Electrical Code (NEC) in order to protect employees, customers, and equipment from electrical shock or damage.
  • Deliver material and inventory according to company standards and/or prior instruction from your direct supervisor.
  • Preventative maintenance of customer sites as directed in provided documentation or instruction.
  • Cleaning and general tidying of customer sites prior and following work performed on each visit.
  • Translate diagrams, installation manuals, floor plans and methods of procedure into a properly installed and working product.
  • Use a Windows PC to configure equipment using provided documentation via web or console interface.
  • Complete associated paperwork and/or reports within each required platform with each work order in a timely manner in order to ensure all details of the work are recorded.
  • Provide daily updates on work orders within and to all required platforms or individuals.
  • Provide constructive solutions to unique problems faced by the team on work orders and communicate these solutions.
  • Provide design and/or implementation knowledge and/or support for new or non-standard projects and new equipment to be submitted to the Supervisor and to be approved by the Manager.
  • May be asked to provide informal training to less experienced technicians/engineers on subjects they hold advanced knowledge or experience in.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience in telecommunications, electrical engineering, or other related fields.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well individually or as a team member.
  • Ability to manipulate connectors, fasteners, wire and use hand and power tools, works in areas with exposure to moderate noise levels.
  • Understanding of DC and basic AC power.
  • Knowledge of Wireless RF concepts.
  • Ability to operate and maintain installation tools and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Computer skills should include use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
  • Basic Networking Skills: Ability to change IP on Computer, PING, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 lb.
