As a Scrum Master, you will support teams in becoming self-organized. You constantly improve teams' effectiveness by managing impediments and understanding team dependencies. You also influence team success by encouraging timely delivery of the sprint commitments. You drive tactical team-level improvement as part of the Agile process. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Developers, Designers and Quality Assurance engineers to ensure the successful delivery.

This position is based out of our Irving, TX or Denver, CO offices, hybrid model.

The role ensures:

  • That the Afeature teams function optimally
  • That delivery is smooth & predictable
  • That impediments are removed

The scrum master is an important spokesperson of the Safe Agile methods and lean ways of working. You will work as part of a 200+ people located on different sites in Europe and North America. The Scrum Master is responsible for maintaining a proper power of balance between the product owner, scrum team and management. If impediments or blockers occur, it is the responsibility of the Scrum Master to troubleshoot and solve the issue.

Process guide: supports the team.

Clears the way:

  • Removes impediments to progress.
  • Prepares stakeholders for incremental delivery;
  • Works with Product Owner to ensure the product backlog is ready for next sprint.

Protects the team:

  • Deflects external interruptions during sprints.
  • Ensures that the team does not overcommit.

Facilitates resolution of issues:

  • Listens, resolves disconnects.
  • Organizes and supports meetings within the team and with external stakeholders (e.g., infrastructure).

Mentoring & improving

A leader:

  • Stimulates growth for the whole team and each individual.
  • Encourages team members to look beyond their scope.

An innovator:

  • Tirelessly seeks ways of improvement for himself and the team.
  • Promotes innovation and out-of-the-box thinking in the team.

An educator:

  • Identifies team capability gaps.
  • Conducts team or one-on-one training in just about any aspect of Agile, as needed.
  • Encourages team members to develop a sense of ownership and maturity of agile mindset.

Steward: steward of the team's way of working

Keeps the team on track:

  • Ensures tech sprint team adheres to agile principles and leverages agile tools well.
  • Emphasizes following through on retrospective actions.

Coordinates the release management/Leads meetings:

  • Includes daily stand-up, sprint review and retrospective.
  • Keeps visible charts up-to-date.
  • Includes burn down/burn up, scrum boards.
  • Reports on the delivery lead on a bi-monthly basis.

Agile guru:

  • Actively seeks better ways of being agile and improving the process.
  • Learns about agile and searching for knowledge.
  • Actively participates in the scrum masters Community of Practice.

What you bring :

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as Scrum Master.
  • Minimum 7+ years of hands-on experience in IT.
  • Strong Knowledge of Scrum & SAFe methodology.
  • Strong Facilitation Skills.
  • Expert in agile collaborative tools (JIRA / confluence / Mural).
  • Must be authorized to work for Sonepar in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • You must work a hybrid schedule in our Irving, TX or Dever, Co offices. Minimum 3 days a week.
