Responsibilities

  • Own all dock operations.
  • Oversee and supervise all associates working on the dock and provide continual feedback on areas of improvement and areas of success. Administer corrective counseling plans when needed.
  • Ensure that OSHA safety standards are being observed at all times.
  • Meet daily material staging deadlines so that material can be loaded and delivered to customers on time.
  • Monitor and evaluate the safe and efficient loading and unloading process of freight throughout the shift.
  • Monitor inventory of dock supplies and communicate with supervisor to place purchase orders when necessary.
  • Assists with daily inspection of warehouse equipment and trucks.
  • Maintain optimal level of customer service and assist with resolving customer issues.
  • Ensures correct loading/unloading techniques of drivers and/or dock associates are being used at all times.
  • Coordinate with other departments as needed.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and OSHA safety standards.
  • Strong Communication skills with managers, dispatch dept, and dock associates.
  • Responsible for quality control, ensures no damaged product is shipped.
  • Clean and maintain the dock area daily.
  • Complete annual performance reviews by the deadline for all direct reports.
  • Perform other projects and tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • PIT proficiency; reach truck, order picker, "sit down" propane. Current certification a plus.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and handling small parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Environment

  • Long and varied hours required occasionally
  • Ability to work mandatory physical inventory
  • Ability to work in extreme hot or cold environment
  • Ability to work in dusty conditions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
