Product Development Advanced Specialist (Solventum)

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

Support new product development and commercialization via design for manufacturing leadership, component procurement, manufacturing line startup, distribution planning, and service center readiness. This position will support the Reusable/Durable Therapy Unit manufacturing development and operations integration, able to execute activities related to the implementation both NPI and Sustaining design changes for these types of electro-mechanical devices into manufacturing and field services and repair operations.

As a(n) Sr. Technical Development Engineer for NPWT Operations, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Organizing, planning, executing, and monitoring activities required to manufacture, distribute, and service newly developed products.
  • Collaborate with and support the NPI project manager, design, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and quality core team members to develop user needs including the manufacturing and service requirements.
  • Lead the inclusion of DFM principles during new product design and development.
  • Manage the selection of component suppliers and new product manufacturing sites.
  • Facilitate the manufacturing process development and implementation at the chosen manufacturing facility.
  • Determine COGS, manufacturing, distribution, and servicing cost analyses related to newly developed products, including Capital and Expense budgets.
  • Develops project plans and tracks progress related to the above listed initiatives.
  • Willingness to be on-call for onsite manufacturing and/or supplier related project travel.
  • Conform to, supports and enforces all Company policies and procedures
  • Participates in any and all reasonable work activities as deemed appropriate and assigned by management.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher AND at least 3 years of leadership experience in a discipline such as a Manufacturing Sr. Engineer or Product/Project Engineer OR HS/Diploma with 7 plus years of experience leadership experience in a discipline such as a Manufacturing Sr. Engineer or Product/Project Engineer.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • 5 years or more of engineering experience
  • 5 years or more of effective lead manufacturing or operations experience
  • 3 years or more of effective project management experience
  • 3 years or more of design environments - specifically medical device development, FDA or ISO registered work experience desirable.
  • Medical device design or manufacturing experience involving electro-mechanical systems, for both durable or single-use applications.
  • Advanced Microsoft application skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Ability to apply a broad range of expertise of principles, practices and procedures of particular function to technology related issues.
  • Ability to work with multiple functional departments making key technical contributions affecting the direction of the group and projects.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service oriented attitude.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate required problem-solving communications with internal departments, teams, external customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to San Antonio, TX at least 2 days per week

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic and/or international

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $119,076 - $145,537, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
