The Role…

At Soho House, the Member Events Manager is responsible for programming, planning, and delivering innovative events using Soho House’s guiding principles of curating events for a creative community. Soho House events are designed to inspire members, cross-pollinate the community, and tell authentic stories about a city. The Member Events Manager is responsible for conceptualizing and producing creative, varied, and well-executed member events. The Member Events Manager will report to the Head of Membership.  

A successful Member Events Manager is an organized storyteller with their finger on the pulse of cultural trends, possessing talent and innovation that engages members, guests, and staff.

All serious applicants must provide five (5) unique and creative mock events that are ideal for the Soho House Portland calendar.  Please include a one sentence description & the intended audience for each event.  Applications without event ideas will not be considered.  We respect your intellectual property.

Main Duties...

  • Lead the event programming and vibe of the property as well as tell hyper-local stories about the neighborhood the Soho House occupies and its creatives
  • Propose trends, technology, and leading innovations for new event formats (including digital) and collaborate with the team on themes and installations for big events
  • Inspire members, talent and all Soho House teams when meeting to create and implement events
  • Share contacts and ideas, and collaborate with all departments on the set up and creation
  • Build and create a diverse database of talent, collaborators and experiences ensuring the House calendar captures the current cultural zeitgeist
  • Ensure innovative events & programming are united around our global themes
  • Create systems to track the booking and forward lead the event programming and vibe of the property
  • Be inventive and ambitious when conceptualizing member events (e.g., booking talent, securing an artist residency, or building a grand installation)
  • Collaborate with the team on themes and installations for large events
  • Adhere to deadlines and budgets to ensure that business goals are met
  • Compose compelling copy for all events
  • Maintains the Health & Safety standards as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act(OHSA)  

Requirements…

  • 3+ years of cultural event programming or cultural event production experience
  • A long-term resident of Portland with an extensive local network
  • Creatively driven and culturally in-tune to develop / foster a network and knowledge to execute events
  • Collaborative and communicative providing direction and delegating as required
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to multitask and execute under pressure in a demanding fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule including evenings and regular weekend event coverage
  • Hospitality or music experience a plus
  • Budget management and resource allocation
  • Performs other duties as required
