In addition to restaurants, a fitness studio, rooftop pool, in-house cinema and a spacious spa area, the hotel offers 65 rooms in various sizes, 20 flats and four lofts. In addition to Berlin and Great Britain, there are other houses in the USA, Toronto, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Istanbul and Mumbai. The SOHO HOUSE includes the concept store THE STORE X. THE STORE X is a platform for ideas and culture. The range includes fashion, art, design and also attracts a global community of creative people to 180 The Strand in London, Soho House Berlin and Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire. Our aim is to present a new kind of experience space that exceeds customer expectations of traditional retail and shopping.

The Role...

The General Manager at Soho House will ensure that Soho House provides a warm, safe, secure, inclusive and transparent environment for all members, guests and team members at all times. The General Manager is ultimately responsible for the day to day running of the business, financial performance and member satisfaction, however the role is multi-faceted. The role requires the ability to demonstrate a professional approach, working with a range of managers both within the site as well as support teams including finance, people, membership and health and safety.

 

Key Accountabilities…

  • Overseeing and driving of an inclusive environment that ensures every member and team member both feels and embodies the Soho House Pillars and Values
  • A strong understanding of product from food and drink to accommodation
  • Implementing, overseeing and understanding the commercial viability of your business
  • Effective hands-on day to day management and problem solving both front and back of house operations
  • MNE overview, understanding, direction and strategy

Performance standards

  • Ensuring all products delivered to members and guests are in line with the company specification. Highlighting and overseeing proactive training for all team members to ensure consistency
  • Ensure that the business is prepared in accordance with company service standards
  • Ensure that all guests experience is priority at all times following the SH ethos
  • Ensure that the site is meeting the Sales, COS, labour and EBIDTA budgets each month. Proactively taking action where needed
  • Demonstrating a commercial ability and awareness to both maximize and celebrate annual events
  • Work with HOD’s to ensure departmental budgets are met consistently
  • Set departmental targets and objectives that maintains and improve people, product and efficiency
  • Ensure that all departments rotas are forecasted, costed and published in line with the company standards
  • Ensure the business is set daily from a consumable view point, including and not limited to CGS, both F&B and accommodation related amenities
  • To aim, achieve and maintain minimum 90% mystery shopper score in all departments
  • An understanding of your customer base in order to retain them, through maintaining standards and expectations
  • Ensure retention of team members in line with company standards

Management expectations and accountabilities

  • Responsibility for feedback, training and development of all managers working at the site.
  • Ensure that the site meets 100% completion yearly for annual reviews
  • Embody, display and proactively drive the companies Pillars and Values
  • Ensure that company policies and standards are maintained consistently by everyone working at the site
  • Ensure that any behaviour from either guests or team members that are not in line with the Soho House Pledge are called out and relevant follow up takes place

Scope of authority

  • Senior managers are key in driving products within their respective departments, both new and existing. The General Manager is ultimately responsible for; including and not limited to: food and beverage, accommodation, gym, events, spa and cinema within their site. As the General Manager there is an ultimate responsibility for consistency of deliverables for all products and services
  • Work cohesively with the Head of Operations and Operations Director and support teams on a range of projects and ensuring the ultimate completion for their site.
  • Work closely with the support teams to plan and drive an inclusivity awareness training program annually
  • Ensure all team members are fully versed and display the expected behaviours to maintain an inclusive environment
  • Work with local People teams and the Diversity & Inclusion team to ensure the site is delivering and maintaining the Soho House Pledge

Health and Safety

  • Ensure that all team members including managers have completed the necessary training for the role and all risk assessments are carried out
  • To ensure cleanliness standards and procedures for the unit & their areas are in accordance with site, company and legal health and safety standards.
  • Ensure all new starters are rigorously trained to standards and competencies
  • Ensure regular audits are carried out quarterly to maintain both company and legislative standards

 

Requirements / Qualifications...

A successful General Manager for Soho House will ideally have 3-5 years’ experience in a busy high-profile venue and a natural flair for first class service in a similar role. You’ll be reliable, friendly and happy to be a key part of the team that strives for success.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships (internal and external)

  • Fluent in English
