The role…

The Club Director is a unique role which takes responsibility for delivering a best in class experience for our members in some of our biggest Houses. They will report directly into the General Manager to support and lead all aspects of the business. The Club Director is accountable for Member Engagement, Member Experience, and overall culture focused on creating a memorable experience for not only all our members that visit Soho House West Hollywood, but also our most distinguished members.

The General Manager and Club Director will work hand in hand to both member experience and delivering on all daily operational duties. While the focus of the Club Director is the member experience, The General Manager will ensure needs of the business are being met. By doing so the Club Director is able to focus on the additional special elements which elevates all member experiences in the House for our special members.

With established and exceptionally strong knowledge of the creative, film and entertainment industries in LA and beyond, the Club Director, along with their team, will be the person who takes extra care of members, ensures discreet and appropriate service, can make the impossible happen, whist creating an environment where these members feel safe, comfortable and taken care of.

The role is a hybrid of operations and host. Among other responsibilities, the role’s priority and expectation is to work each Thursday, Friday and Saturday in order to cover lunch and dinner service to establish the position as the face of the House.

All elements on site will be led by the Club Director who will use the expertise of other departments to run the most successful property achieving all business goals.

  • Business Leader: Inspirational leader who sets standards by being present and leading their team to reach the highest standards of success.
  • Product: Expert in Soho House culture and product. Understands all aspects and can maintain standards and improve member experience daily by coordinating f&b, member events, member relations and Receptions to exceed expectations at all times. Consistency is essential. Aware of trends and cultural moments across the City.
  • People: Leading the team you will maintain a team of experts to head up each department and drive the business. Delivering a succession plan for each department and always holding a strong bench of candidates to join the team.
  • Communication: Provide a consistent message to all department heads in the business and team members so they understand the business objectives and focuses. Motivate, influence and improve performance.
  • Supporting & Coaching: Instrumental to the business success will be how the team are supported through a combination of on the floor coaching and meaningful individual and team meetings. You will set the highest standards and strive for consistency from all of your team.

Measures of success

Deliver

  • Member feedback and member retention
  • Strong product offering across all aspects of the business from f&b, building maintenance, atmosphere, membership quality and member Measured through chilli reports and mystery shoppers
  • Develop good relationships with all members  and good attendance in the house from this group of people. Achieved through consistent time on the floor becoming the face of the House.
  • Holds a strong member waitlist which has high application rates and only allows high quality members to be accepted, growing our desirability and reputation in the City and globally.
  • Provides support to fill member events, new concept launches and progressing the quality of the member events calendar to suit the House. influencing through your contacts and knowledge of the strategy for the House.
  • Achieves our financial targets and works to budgets
  • Has comp allowance daily which is used to enhance member experience
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing businesses (focus on F&B)
  • Expert in reviewing and speaking to P&L etc
  • Must be able to collaborate with others but take initiative, problem-solve
  • Strong coaching, counselling, facilitation, negotiation and networking skills
  • Be able to deal with pressure, work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
  • Fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the club to others.
  • Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in front of a computer screen for up to 5 hours per day.
  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.

In accordance with California law, the salary range for this role if filled within California is listed below. The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
