The role...

We are looking for a qualified, Back of House Manager at Soho House Berlin you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of cleanliness and efficiency in the entire house. With a detailed knowledge of the Soho House Group and its concept, you will carry out duties as directed by your superior with a professional approach towards our guests, members, and other employees.

Main Duties and Tasks:

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the house layout, facilities, and the Soho House Group's concept to provide a seamless guest experience.
  • Focus daily on maintaining the highest cleanliness and maintenance standards in all back of house (BOH) areas to uphold Soho House's reputation for excellence.
  • Ensuring the courtyard is kept clear, clean, and organized at all times, creating a welcoming environment for staff and guestsmaking them user-friendly and presentable.
  • Manage the distribution of deliveries for all departments, ensuring timely and efficient handling of goods..
  • Manage suppliers by implementing delivery "windows" and ensuring adherence to scheduled timings.
  • Coordinate team meal setups with the kitchen and stewarding team to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Direct staff on proper usage and clean-up after team meals and ensure adequate setups for all servings.
  • Maintain clear and unobstructed corridors, emergency exits, and stairs at all times, ensuring safety and accessibility.
  • Support the Head Chef and Housekeeping Manager in keeping the trash area clear, clean, and organized to maintain hygienic conditions.
  • Implement a recycling system for the house and ensure it is effectively communicated to all staff, providing proper training and follow-up.
  • Organize storage areas efficiently to maintain an organized and clutter-free back of house environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and actively participate in internal and external training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Proactively identify cost-saving opportunities within the department, such as controlling wastage and utilities, to contribute to the hotel's financial success.
  • Adhere to good safety practices and be well-informed about departmental HACCP, Health & Safety, Fire, Emergency, and Bomb procedures.
  • Foster positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments, supporting all co-workers and treating them with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain the highest level of personal appearance, ensuring a professional and well-groomed demeanour.
  • Be flexible and willing to carry out any reasonable tasks as requested by management and Managers to contribute to the smooth operation of the hotel.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance to meet the hotel's standards and expectations.
  • Strong customer-oriented approach with a friendly demeanour, ensuring guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Work quickly and efficiently without compromising on the quality of work, contributing to a productive work environment.
  • Pay exceptional attention to detail and follow a structured way of working to ensure nothing is overlooked.
  • Provide evidence of being organized and possess excellent planning skills to manage back of house operations effectively.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a small team, empowering and motivating them to excel in their roles.

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team to address any facility-related and storage issues promptly.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure the availability of essential supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to organize training sessions for BOH staff.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to back of house management.
  • Participate in management meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Serve as a role model for the staff, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
  • Maintain a positive and approachable attitude, encouraging open communication among team members.
  • Implement employee recognition and reward programs to boost staff morale and performance.
