Soho Roc House is seeking for a dynamic Assistant Financial Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in accounting, particularly within audit firms and/or the hotel industry. Our team focuses on translating real business events to accounting and financial framework events and actively assists management on their decision making.
This role will involve assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing financial reports, and supporting the Financial Controller in maintaining the overall accuracy and integrity of financial information. The job requires relocation to Mykonos during by mid-April to mid-October, while the rest of the year will be based in our Athens finance office.

What we are looking for – Assistant Financial Controller
Main Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, in both Management and Statutory financial reporting framework. Support the Financial Controller in developing and delivering reports for senior management.
Accounting Operations: Maintain general ledger integrity, reconcile balance sheets, and ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
Budget and Forecasting Support: Collaborate with various departments to monitor budget vs. actual expenditures and assist in preparing financial forecasts.
Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during audits and help prepare necessary documents and reports.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements, identifying potential areas of improvement.
Process Improvement: Support the Financial Controller in identifying areas for improved efficiency in financial processes and implementing effective solutions.
Excel and Data Management: Utilize Excel for financial analysis, data validation, and reporting. Create and maintain advanced spreadsheets and models to support accounting and reporting tasks. Ensure accurate and timely interfacing among commercial and bookkeeping systems.
Job Requirements – Candidate Profile
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in an audit firm or 4 years in the hotel industry in a finance or accounting role.
Education:
- Post graduate level education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification designation is a strong plus.
Technical skills:
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and application, including experience with general ledger, financial statement preparation, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong Excel skills, including proficiency with formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- General aptitude with IT tools and applications is a must. We are using multiple applications to generate, transform and report financial information.

- Positive attitude and ability to perform proficiently under pressure.
