Location: We are seeking a creative and skilled Research and Development Chef to join our culinary team. This is a Remote position with the ability to travel quarterly up to 50%.

Principal Function:

The Research and Development Chef will be responsible for developing innovative food products and recipes that meet market demands while ensuring quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new concepts from ideation to production.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Test and develop new recipes and cooking techniques.
  • Create build cards and generate photographs for proper recipe execution.
  • Participate in quarterly product cuttings and content reviews.
  • Oversee the development of tools and guides related to new product offerings, brands, or menu concepts.
  • Conduct thorough testing to include but not limited to recipes, ingredients, cooking techniques, tools, equipment, sanitation guidelines, and allergens to create scalable results.
  • Collaborate to create training tools and guides for kitchen staff on new offerings and recipe implementations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of recipes and development processes.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations of new dishes and adjust recipes based on taste tests.
  • Maintain accurate records of recipe formulations, testing results, and modifications made during development.
  • Create and formulate new product offerings in collaboration with the transformation team to commercialize scalable production formulas.
  • Work closely with procurement to ensure recipes reflect managed order guide ingredients.
  • Work with procurement to add new ingredients to the managed order guide.
  • Collaborate with the director of safety to incorporate food safety guidelines at all points of new offering.
  • Support and present at person quarterly food cuttings, the annual meeting, and other collaborative meetings as needed.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Strong understanding of culinary techniques, food safety, catering and high volume operations.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for experimenting with flavors and presentation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in recipe development, menu design, and food presentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in recipe documentation.
  • Experience in testing recipes and techniques for scalable production.
  • Ability to participate in quarterly cuttings and annual meetings and travel to collaborative meetings as needed.
  • Strong ability to research emerging techniques, tools, and ingredients and apply them in scalable innovation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience in a high-volume kitchen environment or equivalent demonstrated experience in a research and development role.
