Location: We are seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor for the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA.

Our 2.6-million-square-foot facility is located along the waterfront in downtown San Diego, steps from the bustling Gaslamp District. Our Convention Center and our team are recognized as leaders in our industry and we have received the Venue of Excellence award from the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM). Abundant, flexible space and five-star service make the San Diego Convention Center the meeting planner's choice for hosting major conventions, trade shows, meetings and special events. Some of the many types of events offered at the San Diego Convention Center include the annual Comic Con and ESRI shows, full service plated dinners and buffet & reception events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform diverse payroll duties involving preparation, processing, and upkeep of payroll records.
  • Collect, analyze, update, and reconcile payroll data.
  • Generate and print required reports to balance payroll ledger.
  • Process payroll weekly and bi-weekly.
  • Daily management of time and attendance records.
  • Audit meal breaks, splits, and late-night differentials for accurate payment.
  • Calculate holiday pay and process birthday pay in AOD system.
  • Ensure bi-weekly communication with corporate payroll for timely processing of payroll checks.
  • Prepare and mail detailed Union Dues Report to Unite HERE, Local 30.
  • Email Unite HERE, Local 30 with bi-weekly payroll detail report and union dues report.
  • Provide tax information bi-weekly to the Accounting Manager.
  • Adhere to operational standards as outlined in company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate professionally and amicably with all staff members.
  • Possess knowledge of California and Federal labor laws.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience with unionized workforces preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Prior experience in fast-paced hospitality or upscale food and beverage environments preferred
  • Strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to deliver and interpret information across
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising appropriate skills for effective judgment, creative problem solving and taking initiative.
