Location: We are seeking an Catering Sales Coordinator - Part Time for the Orange County Convention Center.
Venue Description: The award-winning Orange County Convention Center, located in the heart of Central Florida and only fifteen minutes from the Orlando International Airport, provides a multitude of event options in two beautiful buildings - the West and North/South.
With new entertainment and accommodation options changing the landscape, this is a time of great transformation for the OCCC and our surrounding Convention Center District. Nearly $1 billion has been infused into the district, creating a renaissance of tremendous growth and reinvestment.
The Center is consistently rated a top-tier convention center with incredible spaces, including the remodeled multipurpose Tangerine Ballroom, the Sunburst room and terrace along with the all-new Honeybell and Hamlin boardrooms.
Principal Function:
The Catering Sales Coordinator is responsible for creating unique dining experiences by selling, upselling and actively participating in the planning and production of catered functions. Working closely with
clients, as well as with the sales, culinary and operations staff, they are responsible for ensuring that
events are coordinated and executed smoothly and in accordance with all client expectations and
specifications.
The Catering Sales Coordinator will focus on the development, implementation and measurement of the
revenue objectives contained within the unit's annual marketing plan. They will direct and manage sales
activities to meet revenue objectives and attain the top line financial forecast. This includes developing
sales with existing business (forecasted group/local business) and executing strategies to develop new
business.
The Catering Sales Coordinator will support the planning of and preparation for events according to
anticipated attendance, and will provide hands-on management and oversight in the areas of service and
F&B operations during events.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Required:
- High school diploma.
- 6 months of experience on a multi-phone line system.
- Strong oral communication and organizational skills.
- Must be adaptable to a variety of tasks and able to work with unscheduled interruptions.
- Excellent verbal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office and typing skills.
- Ability to participate in a team environment.
- Ability to understand written and oral direction and communicate same with others.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to meet the following requirements with reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to multitask in an office setting.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
- Ability to operate telephone and communicate.
- Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes).
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
- Ability to physically walk approximately one-fourth (¼) of a mile and the circumference of the unit several times a day.
- Other lifting or physical requirements as added from time to time, or as required to perform the essential functions of this job.
