We are currently seeking Bartenders at the San Diego Theatres.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure your areas are stocked (i.e., bottle openers, pens, pre-mixed beverage containers, etc.) and in proper working order. o
- Anticipate needs throughout the shift. o
- Communicate needs to Barback so that bar is properly stocked throughout an event •
- Get beverages, ice, water and all other supplies required for your events • Place your bar according to floor plan specs and set up your glassware and paper supplies on back bar tables •
- Adhere to company regulation pours (1/25 oz. per cocktail). Care must be taken not to under/over pour •
- Check liquor on hand against inventory control to ensure proper count
- Document all cash or spillage errors on spoilage sheets
- Ensure liquor display set-up and clean bar area prior to event opening time
- All bars to be set-up one half hour before event starts
- At the close of your shift, liquor and bar supplies must be put back in original containers and returned to the bar cage area. All other items, such as glassware, tray jacks, bus tubs, linen, trash, etc., must be returned to their designated areas •
- Count tickets and charges according to standard operating procedures • Submit tickets with appropriate paper work to closing Captain. Follow proper cash drop procedures •
- Ensure quality service is provided •
- Keep your work area (including storage and service) clean at all times • Bartenders are allowed a tip jar. The jar, a black cylindrical container provided by the company, must be placed under the lip of the bar, and must be touching the back wall of the bar. The tip jar must never be visible to any guests during any function. When using a tip jar, cash is not to extend above the top rim of the tip jar. Tip jars are allowed during both hosted and non-hosted events •
- Employees must abide by the operating standards outlined in the Volume Services America and the San Diego Theatres policy and procedure manuals •
- Work with all staff in a friendly and professional manner •
- Maintain a well-groomed appearance at all times •
Qualifications:
- Previous bartending experience is necessary •
- Must be able to hook-up and operate a jockey box •
- Must know liquor laws and regulations •
- Must have knowledge of proper cash handling and must know how to use a cash register •
- Must know security and fire safety procedures and regulations •
- Must be able to speak and understand English to ensure accurate communication both with guests and co-workers
Other requirements:
- Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work in extremes of cold to heat.
- Must be able to exert well-paced mobility to maneuver quickly among different areas of the facility.
